Hemoglobin test

Does anyone know where I can get a hemoglobin test here in Kinsale, Ireland? On vacation for a month and need to have it checked. Must keep it below 14. Thanks, Harlie

Hi Harlie, hope you're enjoying Kinsale, lovely part of the world when you get the weather! The Bulman in Summercove is one of my favourite places on a sunny day.

I would call the local GP, there's a doctor's surgery in the centre of town. I think it's opposite the Credit Union if it's still there. They can take bloods and send to CUH for testing but it will probably take a week for results to come back. Expect to pay about €50 for a doctor's appointment.

Thank u so much. I googled HGB tests and McCabes pharmacy does them on the spot but I think they are only in Dublin. We are in a house across from the Spaniard Pub. I will check with a pharm. in town. I saw a GP last year in town. She was located over Super Value. If pharm says no I will try her.Thanks so much xxHarlie

I lived for a year just up from where you are in those colourful apartments. Lovely view but there was too much glass and the apartment was freezing in winter! I live in north Cork now.

I didn't know the pharmacies could do blood tests. I always go to the GP but then I'm usually getting tested for thyroid so I kind of have to see the GP for that anyway.

I know exactly where you lived. Ardbrack Heights. We rented there for many years and then could not get the dates we wanted. We always rented for a month. Loved it, loved the views. Then found this house which is larger so can have some family join us.

Did not know if all Pharms do tests but I just need hemoglobin which is only a finger stick. Hopefully one here will do it. That way I get instant results. I will let u know.

I went to three Pharmacies and nine do the HGB testing. Only McCabes in Dublin. So Monday I will visit the Medical Center and hope for the best. XxHarlie
