Hi all, new to the group but really after some knowledgeable advise, I have 2 children had no problems with the pregnancies and have two beautiful children. We started trying for baby number 3 18 months ago and I experienced 3 miscarriages in a row, I had all the tests but the lupus anticoagulant test got lost for a few months and by time they located the results I was pregnant again. The result was positive, and I was started on 75mg asprin and 40mg clexane, sadly the pregnancy was eptopic but the baby was thriving had a heartbeat which is something the other pregnancies didnt. Anyway consultant said after eptopic that no need to repeat the luous test as history shows that it is positive. So recently experienced a very very early chemical pregnancy and he is now saying I need to wait till june and repeat the test !!!! I really dont see why I have to wait so long after early chemical pregnancy to repeat the test? ??? And secondly I agreed with him when he said with my histroy shows that i am positive so why repeat the test. Very confused!!! And dont really want to wait till June to try for another pregnancy. Please help !!

I am confused. Are you still pregnant? If you are on meds why does the test need to be repeated? And what is a chemical pregnancy?

Hi Thank you for the replies, no I am not still pregnant a chemical pregnancy is a very very early miscarriage it happens to almost 70% of pregnancies apparently its when you test with a sensitive test before your period is due and you get a positive result and then a few days later your period arrives as normal. I have only had one positive lupus test which was Sept 2012 then after the eptopic pregnancy my consultant said because the baby had a heart beat as I was on the meds then there was no need to repeat the test we would just take it that I was definitely positive with my previous history, now after this chemical pregnancy he is saying I need a repeat test in June. I can not understand why I have to wait till June does a early Miscarriage affect the results of this test? and I agree that with my history that I probably didn't need a repeat test in the first place.

Remember lupus and lupus anti coagulant are two different things. Which one is it you have?

I only have Lupus Anticoagulant although I have only had one positive test after three miscarriages. I am really puzzled by it all my consultant wrote to me to tell me and my gp told me to look it up on the internet.!!! They said in Jan of this year I wouldn't need a repeat test due to my history and now they are saying I need to have another test in June. I don't mind having a repeat test but I don't understand why I need to wait till June. I had a very early miscarriage two weeks ago. Can that affect the test is that why I need to wait ? the other thing is I have two children 6year old and a 3 year old had no problems but all last year I miscarried so something was definitely wrong but do U just develop Hughes or is it something I've always had ? Anyway would be really grateful of your knowledge. Thanks for replying. Lisa
