Eating before INR test

Hello

I am new to Warafin and currently have a test every week. In the morning. I currently do not eat or drink anything prior (except water). However, I am on many other medications for my IHAP and normally have a small breakfast. Can any one tell me if you can eat before the INR Test please.

Thanks

Yes, you can eat before an INR test.

The important thing with Warfarin is to be consistent, in the daily amount of Vitamin K rich foods, such as leafy green veggies, as Vit K antagonises Warfarin and lowers INR. Also, be consistent in the amount of alcohol that you drink, on a daily basis too, as alcohol can enhance the effect of Warfarin and raise INR.

If you can be consistent in these issues it will be easier to adjust your Warfarin dose to keep your INR stable and in range.

Best wishes.

Dave
