Hello , I told you a few months back my Apls test came back negitive , my hematoligest has now said she wants to check me in six months for lupus & thrombophilla , I'm still in the change over from clexene to walfarin she said she will test once I'm just on Walfarin , can it be done whilst on this?
Lupus anticoagulent test : Hello , I... - Hughes Syndrome A...
Lupus anticoagulent test
I've just had mine checked again whilst on warfarin. I questioned my haematologist who said checking for lupus anticoagulant whilst on warfarin is 'messy' and if it's positive then fine but if it's negative she won't believe it! Doesn't seem much point doing it as I've got my diagnosis anyway!
Ok thank you does seem a bit mad , mine wouldn't do it now as I'm still on clexene , thanks for replying to me

Hi there are 3 tests for Hughes Syndrome, I shall list them for you and what is said about each one, note what is said about the test you are interested in:
Anticardiolipin Antibodies (aCL)
Test
Sometimes referred to as Antiphospholipid
Positive in 80% of cases
Higher Levels = Higher risk of Thrombosis
Lupus Anticoagulant (LA) **
Test
Positive in 30-40% of cases
Cannot be used if patient is on warfarin
Beta2GP1
Test
This is a newer test, not routinely performed, but occasionally positivite when the above two tests are negative
Make sure all three are done.

Thank you , she only said she couldn't do it whist on clexene, I will mention this Surely they know that , that did lots when I had my pe but were thrown out , thank you again for you help

Can you add a bit of color to this? Why can't you test Lupus Anticoagulant while on warfarin?
I wrote about my test at the Mayo Clinic last week that was negative, but I did not mention that I was on warfarin...
Matt
Oh what a remarkable and happy coincidence! I just had my first Lupus Anticoagulant test and it was negative but I was unsure of the meaning of it. Anticardiolipines are mildly positive, INR 1.4 and tromboplastine time is 40 seconds... what I don't understand is why rheumy says this is APS but I am a "bleeder"... it takes hours to stop running blood and lupus meds made it worst.
I also have hypothyroidism and Reynaud. No coumarinics.
I am lost here, any wisdom words please??
Thank you
Sam
Have they looked into whether you also have Thromboyctopenia, some end up with that also, my late father had that, and Hughes Syndrome/APS. MaryF
Hello ,
I had the first test done which was negative , but I'm not seeing her now for six months when she sees how I'm getting on with walfarin. She said I probably will never no why I've had PE's twice & I think she's only agreed to go any tests now as I said I wanted to know for my children's sake too, not sure what to do now I'm so anixous about it all anyway x
I have always been tested for all 3 , maybe it is the tests that they use on me??? the only thing that they can't test on while i am on my meds is the proteins S and C i had to go on Enox for that
