Hello - from time to time over the last few weeks I have had an odd sensation in right eye - as though the muscles around my my eye socket and top of cheek bone feel stiff. It is not painful and my vision isn't affect. Just wondered if anyone else has anything similar?

I have not, but have heard of this happening with regard to Thyroid problems and the eyes, and we are prone to Thyroid problems if we have Hughes Syndrome. I would get checked out. It may be nothing, but still worth reporting to your GP. MaryF

Just had my eyes tested at the opticians - told him about the stiff feeling around my right eye - he said the examination showed inflation around the outside of the eye which was due to dryness - he asked how much water I drink on average a day (prob around 7 pints+) and if my eyes watered a lot when I went outside on a windy day - which they day. He has prescribed Hylo Tear.

From other comments I have seen on the forum - I am guessing I maybe should ask to be tested for Sjorens when I finally get my appointment to see a rheumatologist in London?

Hi Nic,

Is it only in your right Eye? Is it better with the eyedrops? Do you also have any numbness in your right cheek or chin?

Best wishes from Kerstin in Stockholm

Hi Kerstin

Yes it's only my right eye that has been feeling odd - I have had numbness on the top my cheek in the past but that is usually associated with a migraine type headache. This has just been for last 3-4 weeks and is just around eye socket.

I have only seen optician today so will have to see if the drops improve things.

Regards

Nic

Ask to get bloodtests for Thyroid (all of them) as Mary says and also Sjögrens and it is good as I read that you also take 75 mg of Aspirin on Doctors suggestion.

Good Luck from Kerstin
