Lots of bruising?!

I have been on Clopidogrel for 8 months and Fragmin for 5 weeks. I get a lot of bruises mainly on my legs and arms. I have a dog that jumps up and a boystrous 6 yr old so do have bumps here and there but I have never had so many bruises. Does anyone else have this problem and is it ok? The bruises can take a while to fade too. Thanks.

Unfortunately You will get a lot of bruising when you are on blood thinners.

I have developed myself plenty of bruising some of which don't know where from.....also a painful lump has appeared 2 days ago on my left foot...don't know how? Bruising spread around it yesterday & foot started to swell....I'm assuming it was a bleed again so keeping an eye on it :-/

We will get these but the alternative is so much worse, take care x

Hi, Are you on Warfarin? Do you often have a bleed on anticoagulations? I very seldom have bruises only when the anticoagulationclinic can not take the bloodsample in the vein as it should be taken. I have never had a bleed but I am selftesting now.

Take care. Kerstin in Stockholm

What is meant by a bleed?

I guess it is a bleeding. Too high INR ev.

I asked Suzypaws (she spook of a bleed in her foot) but I have had no answer yet from her. I have never had a bleeding after i started Warfarin. As far as I have noticed anyway. Take care.

Hi, a bleed is when there is a leaking of blood in one area...here is a link for you to explain more: webmd.com/first-aid/tc/brui...

I've had two now, ( which is good I think in 12-13 years I've been on warfarin ? ) one in the chest which apparently may have been caused by too many weights at the gym?! it caused a lump the size of a small orange & was very painful! this one in my foot is only the size of a pea...but still painful....having bike boots on all day may have made it worse but have rested it over last few days, seems a lot better & lump going down now....still keeping an eye on it.

It usually sorts itself out...but if ever worried always get it looked at x

my inr when I had the bleed in my chest was high, around 4 - 5, it took over 6 months for the lump to start to get smaller!!....but this time it's below 3....plus can't remember banging my foot? but maybe I did?!

I am just experiencing that now, I had a small place like the size of an eraser, come up on the top of my right foot, hurt like the dickens. Went to doctor and he sent me for xray. The place had turned blue on the side then down around my toes. The diagnosis was possibly a small bone spearing, and the bruising was from the Warfarin which my INR was 3.7 last week.. The first time anything has happened and have been on Warfarin 3 years. Age has an effect I'm sure

I am on aspirin and warfarin and have lots of bruises. With a dog and a cat that love jumping on me and bumping into things there is a never ending supply of bruises.I think it is quite normal when on anticoagulants but as always if worried or you get too many or too large a bruise best to ask the doctor to check.

I am taking Warfarin and bruise easily. I'm so used to it I don't get worried, until recently. I woke up with a big bruise on my arm. It was firm and lumpy which I'd never had before. My GP saw it yesterday and said it was nothing to worry about. It doesn't take much for us 'Hughies' on Warfarin to bruise!

Yes I was on aspirin w my my warfin. My body looked like a war zone. I no longer take aspirin at my GP request. It's been two weeks and I only have one small new one. Hope you ask your doctor.

I have been on Warfarin for almost 3 months and bruise as usual but the bruises don't go away. Have no idea how long it takes. I may also look like I've been in a fight or war eventually as they accumulate. Wonder if there's anything we can do to speed up the healing. Have to ask my rheumatologist when I see her at the end of June!
