Bruising

I still easily bruise, especially in my legs. It is hard to get a quick appointment with my hematologist. It is small bruising. It only hurts when I touch it. It burns and feels like a lump, like my nerve is inflammed. It burns when I press on it. Do I need to be concerned and seek immediate care to check for blood clots? Or is this normal? Thank you so much!

I would go to your doctor for advice as you are concerned. It’s always best to be safe!

With good wishes,

hello ,

Even your GP could give you general starting points, a physical exam, and maybe help get you in more quickly to either your hematologist or rheumatologist.

Blood work up could be done-

( SED rate, other inflammation markers, INR by vein, full blood count, a wBC and RBC by specific break down of each, and a ferritin count, and a vitamin/ mineral panel, D3, full B spectrum including folate, full thyroid check, etc. )

When I was first diagnosed by my hematologist I was told that how I walk, sit, sleep, etc, must be consciously noted and re-evaluated to ensure that circulation is not impared in my day to day activities. I learned to prop my feet up and to this day I do this. Automatically. When travelling or sitting in a theater I take the aisle seat so I can stand and pace a bit, or do a few partial squats. Don't know if this is the cause of your bruising, and certainly won't resolve current isdued, but thought I'd share.

I never thought about that. I am in the bed a lot or the recliner due to the pain and fatigue. I did not think that lack of circulation and movement can actually cause bruising. Thank you for that info!

Very good advice about elevating your legs whenever possible. It makes a huge difference.

A bit different but I recently done something to my right foot - to help the pain I raise my feet against a wardrobe for 20 minutes per day, this has helped with the pain but incorrigibly has helped overall with my circulation.
