Hi , I feel some sort of focal pain at my calf . It's not very painful . But definitely present and on the same focal point over a few days. Coult it be a clot and dangerous ? Do I need to have an ultrasound done ? Thanks !!

It very well could be a DVT/clot, best to see your doctor ASAP.

I have a question; is your calf swelling & more so when you are on it?

There is no swelling . And the pain is not terrible . Just seem to notice that it feels different at that spot .

Thank you everyone. My appointment to see my rheumatologist is in July . If the pain gets worse I will go to the emergency dept .

Yes please do, as clots can be missed, as other members will tell you from their personal experience. MaryF

I know you are on warfarin. Right? If I were you and I had pain I would never wait till July. It can mean that you are not well anticoagulated. Go to a doctor at once if you have pain!

Hi Joey M,

Ditto to the other replies concerning a possible clot. My GP now thinks I probably had Phlebitis and possible shallow vein clot, which is healing slowly now.He has referred me for a D-Dimer blood test(whatever that is) and full blood count again. However, I found myself educating him about APS.He had never heard of Professor Hughes.! I now have an appointment at the APS clinic in St Thomas, so we shall see.

I always think that it is best to get things checked out, especially as you are the one living with it. Patient pat

Hi all , thanks for your concern .

Kerstin , I am on aspirin . Not warfarin.

Anyway , I called up my rheumatologist today . Cos I developed another symptom , - feet and palms feel numb .

1) regarding the focal pain on my calf , she said clots would causes diffuse pain , so I should not be too worried .

2 ) regarding numbness : she asked if I felt weak , I said no . Then she said I should monitor for a couple of weeks .

I asked her if I need to be monitored for being well coagulated . I was diagnosed of APS cos of two miscarriages . So she said my main issues were gynae related. ( my urticaria, joint aches & fatigue are manageable for now ) . So she wont start me on warfarin but she did suggest hydroxychloroquine .

I hope she is right with all the above

Plaquenil is a good move, but if you feel any more concern regarding you current situation, please do go to hospital or the GP if necessary. There is a list of specialists as you know on the HU charity site, a hospital containing one of those is not a bad idea. Follow your insticts with this should you feel very unwell. Everyone is different in terms of how they feel! MaryF

Hi, I doo agree with Mary. I wonder if that Rheumatologist knows APS enough. Did she say when you are starting you anticoagulation? If I were you I would follow the advice of Mary with a specialist..... the summer is coming up.

Good luck from Kerstin

I had typed an update a few days ago , but I can't seem to see it in the board . Maybe it wasn't successfully posted .

Anyway , I wanted to let you lovely folks know , I called my rheumatologist about :

1) focal pain at calf

2) and numbness on my palm ( new symptom )

She said :

1)clot will not cause focal pain . It would be diffuse pain .

2) if I am not feeling weak , just monitor the numbness for now .
