Sat here feeling rubbish awaiting blood results tomorrow, Dr thinking blood clot but I say highly unlikely as on warfarin and clopidogrel . This is a week old bruise . Has anyone else had this problem. It’s pretty swollen and warm , bruising coming out 🙈and face feeling tingly so think stress is kicking off a heamaplegic migraine episode .😬

Hi Amy, It does seem likely to be a clot, especially being red and warm but if so it must be close to the skin, so perhaps a nasty SVT? I have never experienced anything exactly like that but can I ask, are the raised veins around the red and hot area, always there on your leg?

No it’s like it’s spreading out , can’t touch it it’s to painful 😣

When I'm sub theraputic and having blood flow issues, micro clots and svts, my veins become more noticeable and raised where the blood is struggling to flow, that's why I asked about the veins around the red area.

Hope you're getting it properly looked at tomorrow.

Hi, that does look sore!

As well as blood results, you really need to have it scanned - can this be arranged tomm with your doctor?

Yes the worry and stress won't help, easier said than done, please try and relax, until you know what you are dealing with, whether bruising, clot or infection there is nothing you can do.

Sending you big hug xx

I hope perhaps you have a scan alongside the test results, please let us know the result. I am glad your doctor is on the case. MaryF

Hi - i have had DVT while having a high INR for my Jantoven { warfarin sulfate }.i also go on Enox when this happens . I have had clots with no swelling or warm to touch or was there any discoloration. In 2009 i was loaded with clots DVT and PE and none of they symptoms were present in legs - groin - knee- neck or under arm . so you seem to have all 3 things pointing to clots-

By looking at your leg it brings back my past in 2012. It was warm and hurt when pressed. I was on warfarin still getting the painful clot along with cellulitis. I was in the hospital needing a blood transfusion if not I would have died from it! avilio54

Can't give medical advice.

I have had extensive bruising of arm in the past.

My doctor says unlikely to have clots when flying .

Sorry I can't be of much help.

I don’t think stress is likely to set off a migraine in this particular setting. Clearly you are not well. I think your illness is causing migraine.

I do think the area of the red and tender area is unlikely to be a clot in and of itself... that’s a very unusual area for a clot.

It could be ,” reflux.” Reflux can cause issues like that. Reflux is a secondary response from a clot further up the line. Bruising is not caused from dVT usually, but Superficial clots. But it’s all to be taken very seriously. DVTS can put extra stress on the superficial veins to carry the load, or do a ,” work around. ( like a detour , smaller if a major highway has a block.)

This can cause major back up, stress on this smaller roads not accustomed to such “traffic” flow. That’s what you can see up close to surface of skin. That can bruise.

I don’t understand the red, swellingbin shin.

Goodness, Amy. I am wondering how you are.

I hate to bother you for help right now, so just ignore this until you feel better, or perhaps someone else with specific knowledge can chime in on your behalf if you are not up to it. ( Lynn? )

What is haemaplegic migraine? I’ve read bits and pieces? I get a numb and tingly face also with my migraines. Sometimes 1/2 face, lips, it can feel like my sinus cavities are ,” too large and hollow...” ... expanding... and my nose gets runny... and I can smell metallic smell.”

Now how vague is that? My arms go tingly...

I tell my neurologist. He just tells me migraines can cause all sorts of strange sensations.

I’ve never been diagnosed with any particular kind of migraine before. Sumatriptan does help.

And what about your leg?!?! Any news?

Hemiplegic migraine is a migraine that has symptoms on one side of your body. In other words you can have the headache anywhere on your head but you only feel/have symptoms on one side of your body: eg, it can be one sided facial tingling/ numbness, same sided arm tingling/numbness tongue tingling/numbness. All symptoms though are on only one side of the body. If its left all symptoms are on the left , if its right all symptoms will be on the right.

I had this for years with migraines prior to my stroke it always affected my right side except before i had my stroke i had it on the left side, then BAM the stroke.

Im not trying to scare anyone but if you have hemiplegic migraines and your “normal side” is not the side being affected get to medical help, dont just think its “ your typical migraine”.

This was the mistake i made. All the best, Cindy

She spelled it differently. “Haem.. “ as root word. I assumed meaning blood.

I’m aware ,”hemi” means half. It was the root ,”Haem” I did not click to.

My physician ( Hematologist And Rheumatoligist) have told me the migraines I experience are a huge stroke warning. We have made some massive changes just last week and I’m waiting just a little bit to stabilize and get more data on myself ( and get permission from physician ) before I talk about it.

You told us the Dr did a bloodtest a month ago. Did they control your INR that day also? What INR in the vein?
