On looking at cold remedies in the chemist, I notice that they are not recommended if you are on blood thinning medication or, have vascular problems. Apart from paracetemol has anyone found a suitable cold remedy please?

Hi there, I just stick to paracetamol.and for comfort make honey lemon and ginger, I think the various additives don't do me much good really.. I do take vit c and zinc daily and increase these when I have a cold, plus double my fruit intake this seems to shorten the life of the wretched thing. MF x
Hi I read somewhere (not sure where now) that ginger thins the blood and should be avoided. Have you noticed that it effects your INR. Use to use ginger in curries, stir-frys but stopped would love to be able use it again,

I am not on anything other than aspirin ... although I have four other condiitions. my diet does contain a lot of natural blood thinners and anti inflams though. So perhaps it would upset some a bit., certainly some of the chemicals in the powdered drinks appear to make me itch... we are all so different x
Pholcodeine is what i was told i could take to help with a cold and honey and lemon gylcerine.
thanks

I have found that spening an hour or so outside everyday keeps mosts colds away - I haven't had a cold since i got my dogs!!!
Also, once spring comes drink hawthorn tea (fresh new leaves in just boiled water with a lid on (or just foil over) leave to steep for 5 minutes and then drink - it taste a bit like apple).
Also laughing is a great cure - think i am turning into a hippy!!
