Hi Jilly

The first item below (TIA) may not be relevant to you and the second (Bell's palsy) perhaps even less so. Only you can compare the symptoms on the site links so I thought I'd send this anyway so you can decide for yourself what to do next. There are symptoms in common with Hughes but it might be worth checking out. I hope you feel better soon and get an answer that satisfies you! John.

"A transient ischaemic attack (TIA, also known as a mini-stroke) is similar to a stroke, but the symptoms do not last as long. However, it should still be treated as a medical emergency."

stroke.org.uk/factsheet/tra...

"The symptoms of Bell's palsy can vary, from a mild numbness of the face, to total paralysis.

The symptoms develop quickly and reach their peak within 48 hours."

Hello John,

Thank you for your email. I think it could be just an off day due tro now being all gittery & shakey.

I'm a bit dizzy & off balance so I am going to lie down for a while.

This is not a good start to the bank holiday. :( Jillymo x

Hi Jilly

Yes, bank holiday - did you know that bank holidays were introduced so that bank staff could watch cricket? (bosses mainly) Delete the bank part; maybe you just need the holiday part so you can lie down for a while on a beach, catch some rays, listen to the surf and just chill! Dream lots! John X

Jillymo in reply toJillymo

Ops I miss spelt smoothie ! That's what can happen John when your having an off day, my head is away with the fairies.

The tingling in the face has stopped but now replaced with a livedo rash

over my checks & a burning sensation.

i did have to go & lie down i must have slept for a good three hours or more.

i didn't have time to listen to the surf i was gone within seconds of my head hitting the pillow.

O to be normal & awake refreshed with a bit of get up & go.....listen to the surf i would race you into it. :) Hope your having a good day.

laserlight in reply toJillymo

Sorry Jilly. I was just surfing dreamland after being up all night worrying about being a smothie. I can relax now. I'm a smoothie then. Is that good? I had a bad day with headaches yesterday but I'm great today. Feel better yourself!? John X

Now is a smoothie good ? 'Yes if it's a strawberry one & not a narna' not quite sure what you are as yet, i'm still working that one out.

It could be a long job John.! Glad to here your feeling better you old rascal, I can see you peering of your glasses. :)

I was going to agree with laserlight. When I had my TIA, I felt no pain but my face felt weird and tingly. Had it not been for the fast actions of my boss, I could have been far worse off. She is the one who took one look at me and called the ambulance. I didn't even realize how serious it was until I couldn't recall simple things (seasons, the president, etc.). Whenever I get the slightest odd feeling I am always afraid.

APS sure is fun isn't it? I'm glad you seemed to do well after taking a nap though.

My face is tingling & numb again this morning, i also feel sick....The thing is so many strange things happen that you cant explain you get to the stage you dont know what is what.

I supose i get a little scared.i think it is worse when you live alone., that is the beauty of this site someone is always on to give support or a little comfort

To suffer a TIA Is enough to frighten anyone & as you have said ' you felt no pain,'

what worries me is how sudden a TIA can strike.

APs, Mary ,Dave, Pluto,Popshaw ect........are now all in my thoughts, i like to know how they are all keeping or just read there comments.

If i dont see them on here i then wonder if they are going through a rough patch, it takes my mind off my own woes.

Some times a story will enlighten me & make me smile.others make me cross & sad,

yet I can relate to most on here & it's nice to know your not alone.

It is when i am all dizzy with that horrible muddle in my head i find it hard to cope, it is such an uncanny feeling to put into words.

It has amazed me how many others suffer with the same curse !

I am out to lunch at my sons today so i shant be alone, he will keep an eye on me.

You take care, when your afraid your not alone there are some lovely people on here...... hug from Jillymo x

Hi Jillymo, hope your feeling a better, mitmisma worry when you wke up feeling wrong, I agree that the tingling could be nerves, but go to you GP and just tell him/her it worries you!. As the others say it could also be something else, but you can be making yourself worse with worry.

Hope you have a nice time today . Sarahx

Jillymo in reply toswx3

Hi Sara thanks for your mailing. I am awaiting to see a Rheumy so hopefully he will shed some light on what is going on with me.

Your right it is not a good start to the day but as for worrying i am passed that stage.

I have had tingling crawly sensations before but this is persistent at the moment.

I am trying to get ready to go out to lunch but just bathing has worn me out, I could so easy crawl back into bed.

It will pass Sara I think it's part of this illness & it all goes hand in hand.

Weather is not so nice here today hope it brightens up for those whom are out & about.

Hope your able to enjoy the bank holiday. Jillymo x

Ha Ha John but i dont do spiders I hate the little critters :(

Your full of fun can I have a dose of what your taking ?

I'm feeling a little better today John. Thanks for your mailings :)

Jillymo. What do you mean you don't do spiders? You're on the web aren't you? APS stands for Arachnid Pouncing Syndrome. Didn't you know? There's a clinic with a 100% cure rate you can go to near Gatwick Airport. It's in Crawley.

Since you ask, I'm on 100mg of fun, every five minutes. Try some, it's addictive! Hope you had a great lunch with your son. Are you going to Patients Day? Best, John

momtomany profile image
momtomany

John you are quite funny! I think I'll take a double dose of fun tonight, but you can keep the hideous spiders. I found a bee while washing dishes and have had that crawling feeling all night now.

Jillymo I hope your day out was wonderful. I also know what you mean about finding it comforting just being on here with others who understand our plight. I am so glad I found this group.

Ah John you have me in stiches. This is no messing I swear on my son's life i awoke to a damned spider :( on the ceiling this morn I hoovered him up at 10 to six this morn !

He was at the least 5inches across i had a job getting him up the pipe :) ok he wasn't quite that big.

No John i wont be going to patients day it is to far from me & i'm not a driver, It's going to be a nice day for it.........I'm in Swindon John.

Last time i was at St Tom's i was an in patient. I remeber one of the days being really warm & from the window i could see the ice-cream man on the bridge.

i went out in my robe to buy ice-creams for some of the patients, I remember horns beeping as i tried to cross the road......happy days :)

We had roast lamb John .with apple crumble for pud. Yum it all went in my tum.

Have a great day. x

laserlight in reply toJillymo

So it's YOU the ice-cream man talks about to his customers! He calls you 'Florence Nightie-Gale'. We have a lot of nutty escapees at St Tom's, me included; although I did get dressed first. They're nutty because they're the only escapees who, once they've escaped, walk straight back in again. Although I do admit, you've set a new standard.

It's a short train ride to London from Swindon. Just get there! John

Jillymo profile image
Jillymo

How do you think of these things, thats me 'Florence Nightie-Gale' ya wally. :)

I dont do getting dressed if I can help it Jonh....i'm happy in my gown ! It goes to show i wasn't that nutty because once I escaped I there was no going back.

Did you work at St Toms ? I am going back a good thirty years when i was in there, at the time I lived near Slough,.it was an easy run on the train from there.

If i could get there John i would but my walking & stamina are failing me, I would loved to have been there.

It's all right for youngsters like your self :) I hope you enjoy, it is such a lovely day.

laserlight profile image
laserlight in reply toJillymo

Wow, Slough! You lived there? That's like going to Mars and back. I don't understand, "it was an easy run on the train". Why were you running on a train? Why didn't you just sit down like normal people?

Our paths probably crossed at St Tom's, depending on what you were doing. What were you doing? I'm still there as Amateur Professor of Surgery. These days I work mainly from home with a tele-robotic system I designed and built myself from Rolls Royce spares. Only the best. I operate a 'kill or cure' policy that ensures I only ever have satisfied patients, one way or the other. No complaints, anyway!

I hope you wake up refreshed and ready to put on a new gown for a new day! John X

Jillymo profile image
Jillymo in reply tolaserlight

Ok ok I got the message the first time ( repeated three times!!!) mind the system was playing up yesterday.

Yep Slough ! Originally from Greenford we lived in the prefabs on the old cuckoo estate,

I must have been about nine when my family moved to Slough.

I hope our paths didn't cross I was in for ladys business, I was just having a few bits rearranged. Now you behave & no wise cracks.

What ! You mean to tell me your a Prof how interesting, do you do carry out operations ?

Only the best John 'Rolls Royce' any particular model :)

Have you learnt how to do a tummy tuck as yet ,? 'I am in need'.

Sounds like you have a very interesting life John one that is fulfilled I hope.

Was patient day yesterday & if so how did it go, tell me all about it.

I hate to think where you stick your tele robot,

Nice day here I might sit in the garden. Florence Nighting Gown x

I've never worked at St Tom's, it just feels like I almost live there. When a nurse says, 'Hello again John! We've reserved your window-side river view bed for you.' it's hard to know whether to feel flattered or predictable. The great thing about being the APS (Amateur Professor of Surgery) is that I don't have to know anything about anything. So of course I can do you a 'tummy tuck'. Just tell me what it is!

Patients Day is 15/05/13.

Cuckoo. Sounds perfect for you. Here's a famous poem about Slough.

Slough

by

John Betjeman (1906-1984)

Slough

Come friendly bombs and fall on Slough!

It isn't fit for humans now,

There isn't grass to graze a cow.

Swarm over, Death!

Come, bombs and blow to smithereens

Those air-conditioned, bright canteens,

Tinned fruit, tinned meat, tinned milk, tinned beans,

Tinned minds, tinned breath.

Mess up the mess they call a town-

A house for ninety-seven down

And once a week a half a crown

For twenty years.

And get that man with double chin

Who'll always cheat and always win,

Who washes his repulsive skin

In women's tears:

And smash his desk of polished oak

And smash his hands so used to stroke

And stop his boring dirty joke

And make him yell.

But spare the bald young clerks who add

The profits of the stinking cad;

It's not their fault that they are mad,

They've tasted Hell.

It's not their fault they do not know

The birdsong from the radio,

It's not their fault they often go

To Maidenhead

And talk of sport and makes of cars

In various bogus-Tudor bars

And daren't look up and see the stars

But belch instead.

In labour-saving homes, with care

Their wives frizz out peroxide hair

And dry it in synthetic air

And paint their nails.

Come, friendly bombs and fall on Slough

To get it ready for the plough.

The cabbages are coming now;

The earth exhales.

(1906-1984) John Betjeman published his poem about Slough in 1937 in the collected works Continual Dew. Slough was becoming increasingly industrial and some housing conditions were very cramped. In willing the destruction of Slough, Betjeman urges the bombs to pick out the vulgar profiteers but to spare the bald young clerks. He really was very fond of his fellow human beings. Slough is much improved nowadays and he might be pleasantly surprised by a stroll there.

So your an in mate at St Toms i wondered how you new so much about the escapees, ' your one of them,!

I can remember when i was an in mate we were given a small glass of sherie with our sunday dinner. :) I dout if they do that now :(

I'm sorry to hear you spend so much time there. I am very much the same the only time i go out these days is to the hospital or GPs.

I have awoken with fuzzy vision & red eye this morn. I am awaiting to be seen at the hospital due to having very dry eyes.

Possible sjogrens my mouth is also very dry it is such a misery.

You have summed me up in one John I am completely Cuckoo

these days......but i'm a nice cuckoo.....just a little air brained at times..

I can honestly say i have never read that poem before or heard of it........yes blow the retched place up.

If J Betgeman went back now he would not be pleasantly surprised,......my first place of work was on the Slough industrial

estate......engineering working on the old fly presses.

Many residents in Slough were evacuated from London during the war but of course you already know that.

Tell me more about this robot you have built & what it is used for......I can tell your no cuckoo like myself......I sense a brain working in our mailings & it's not mine!

Do you have Hughs John ? I am awaiting a diagnosis of a secondary illness the first being hypoparathyroidism........thats a good one when playing scrabble

It's genetic my son also suffers with the same condition we see a proff in Oxford........but I have asked to be seen by Dr McHugh at Bath........David who is on the site said "he is very good".

I think I might have something like Lupus,Hughs or Cushings'

it's a real demon what ever it is.

Coffee time.......Jillymo x

Sherry, fuzzy vision, red eye, dry mouth, feeling miserable. Sounds like a hangover to me. Strange job you had, pressing old flies. Most people swat them. The robot is pure fiction. It doesn't exist and never did!

Yes, I have Hughes Syndrome/APS/sticky blood. I'm on warfarin. If you read my profile you'll see I was diagnosed in 2005. Sorry to hear you might have problems with your thyroid. At least with treatment you may feel less tired. Hope you feel better soon! John

Jillymo profile image
Jillymo in reply tolaserlight

Oh you mean the robot didn't exist, 'your a wind up merchant' you cad !

Why use energy i havn't got chasing flies with a swatter when i can flatten them.......much more fun :)

Your right i do have probs with my thyroid (under

active) i'm on throxine but i have a genetic condition called HYPOPARATHYROIDISM it's the para thyroid glands :(

I also suffer from fibro myalgia & a few others.

Ah well we have to get on with it, no good moaning.........Groan Grrrrrr

I can honestly say i have never felt so tired it really is debilitating.

Still we must keep smiling :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Ah worn out now......must rest.

Hope your ok you old fruit cake & you had the cheek to call me a cuckoo......at least I dont have imaginary friends that are robots & you said " i was from mars", I think your the alien !!!!!!!
