Hi I am a 50yr old female and have had svt and ectopic beats for the last almost thirty years. My ectopic beats are all day every day and are caused by changes in air for example the wind outside windows that are open and steam from a pan or kettle. I have found them worse now than they have ever been sometimes if I sit they will settle but as soon as I stand they start again. I have been taking bisoprolol for twelve years I feel this has no effect whatsoever. My pulse is 47 during the night and around 60 in the day at rest. I have had a monitor for three days showing pvcs and svt. More recently I keep having chest discomfort I have had it checked at A&e and my ecg always shows t wave abnormalities and anterior infarct age undetermined nobody seems concerned about it. All I can say is I never feel well anymore and feel that my symptoms are getting worse not better.

Pvcs all day and chest discomfort
I have continual pvcs ( called bigemeny)The bisolopril did not work at all and turned me into a zombie. When I finally got to see an electrophysiologist, he put me on flecainide which is a calcium channel blocker. It has worked great as I wait for an ablation. I have felt “normal” while on it but I don’t want to be on medication forever so I will have the ablation later this month. Perhaps you should ask to change medications and see if that helps.
Hiya I agree with what you’ve said to Nikki. Bisoprolol is a “safe” and good drug but only works sometimes for PVCs. Like you I was eventually put on Flecainide and like you it has been a great success! I now have to decide whether or not to go for an ablation. The first one had to be cancelled because I had no ectopics at the time. Part of me thinks”if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” and just stay on Flecinide but I wonder if there are any side effects long term and Yes would rather not be on drugs. Think there’s a high chance of a cure with ablation? Hope yours goes well
Best advice I can give is keep "bothering" your GP until you see an EP, looks like your not on the correct medication for your condition. Flecainide can work, but may not be suitable for you with T wave abnormalities - only your Cardiologist or better still EP will know.
Ask for a referral to an electophysiologist. Bisoprolol clearly isnt the answer for you. The ectopics are horrid please push for help from a suitably qualified cardiologist. Best wishes.
