8 week update post ablation for paroxysmal afib .

Hi all,

I had a call from cardiologist/ep last night. I have been sending in alivecor readings regularly to document afib recurrance. I have my follow up appointment next Thursday.

So, 8.5 weeks out and I'm continuing to have symptomatic paroxysmal afib. 👎 In fairness, I was warned about the possibility of a second and third procedure being required. My cardiologist called last night and said he had been reviewing my tracings when I send them in and said they dont look great, that I have been having quite alot of afib. I told him about the extreme fatigue and shortness of breath, along with the increase frequency of afib and that it seems to start easier now, since ablation and that I have very little/ almost no capacity for excercise. I asked was this normal at this stage and he assured me it was certainly not. He offered his sympathy that I was feeling this way, but not to worry, we would get this sorted!

I have every faith in him and no doubt he will sort it. He did not mention repeat ablation on the phone and we said we would wait until the follow up next Thursday to discuss options . He offered some medication to help control things in the interim, but I politely declined and would rather keep things simple at the moment. I only take a blood thinner and dont want to cloud the situation with more drugs causing other possible side effects and end up where it's hard to tell what is caused by the heart and what is caused by the drugs. My afib episodes are short lived so I can deal with them at the moment without drugs.

Obviously I'm a little concerned about the unknown again and heart failure is a worry for me as many of the symptoms are present, but I'm not jumping the gun by trying to diagnose myself either. 😁

I'm very happy with the care I've received from the doctor and nurse team and I've had easy contact with them from day 1.

I'm fairly certain a repeat is on the cards after talking to him, but will be confirmed next Thursday.

I'll be glad to see him again and make a plan. The last 2 months have been tough and filled with uncertainty. Hopefully things will pan out ok and I'm back in action soon! Theres only so many times I can polish the bike 😂😂 itll be the cleanest thing on the road when I get back!

Take care everyone ✌

Hi, it's good that you are able to keep in close contact with your EP . Not long to wait until Thursday. It will be interesting to hear how you get on. Regards
