Paroxysmal AFib and magnesium.

Hello everyone on the forum. Hope you are getting better everyday and benefiting from the experience of the members.

I have been advised to try magnesium citrate or magnesium oxide 200-400mg a day as it will improve the symptoms of AFib.

I posted before that I was diagnosed with paroxysmal AFib and given Apixaban 5mg bd and I stopped the Bisoprolol after 3 days use: it dropped my systolic BP and my pulse to very dangerous level. (BP dropped to 60!systolic and pulse to 35/ min).

My cardiologist was ok with stopping the Bisoprolol and even he said I do not need it.

Coming back to trying magnesium apparently it is very good for Afib , also has good other effects for the teeth and bones, improves energy etc.

But, amongst the side effects it can cause diarrhoea : has any of you had this problem?or any other side effects? and amongst you has anyone benefitted from it .

Most thankful for your feed back.

Would not advise magnesium oxide, Taurate was good for me and Citrate is also good.

Different types of magnesium have different amounts of bioavailability in the body. I am on magnesium asparate for different heart issues. I don't know if it helps or not for myself, but lots of people swear by it on here. I want to try a magnesium bath, that maybe good.

This talk by a cardiologist on magnesium, it's benefits and which one to take may help:

I find that the tablets give me a sore stomach so put magnesium flakes in my bath and also have a spray.

Jean, what spray do you use? I take the tablets but think I'd prefer a spray. There's loads and I'm stumped as to which to get. Thanks x

I use Better You magnesium oil when needed. However, I try to get most of my magnesium from foods like almonds, cashews and brazil nuts. Avocado, pumpkin seeds, salmon and bananas. I eat all of the nuts, seeds and a banana daily, have salmon and avocado once a week. Twice a week I soak in a bath containing magnesium salts or flakes, though I never use quite as much as they suggest. On the other days when I shower I use a few sprays of the magnesium oil.

Diarrhoea normally means you are taking too much magnesium. Have you heard of the awesome foursome: coenzyme Q10, magnesium, l carnitine and d ribose
