Cardio version failure

Hi, I recently underwent my first cardio version all went well and my heartbeat was regular for two days. It has now become irregular and I feel that I am back to square one. Has anyone had the same experience and can advise on the next step please. Will they try another cardio version and if so could it be successful?

I can't respond to the latter part of your post, but I would say that you are most certainly not back to square one because you reverted to normal rhythm and held it for two days. That provides quite a lot of information and you should move you forward. But I don't know where it takes you!

You where cardio converted out of Afib? Or you had a cardio ablation? If you where cardio converted this means the heart was out of rhythm and they needed to put it back in rhythm. Some times with medication and beta blockers they can control it. If not a cardio ablation usually cures the afib 80 to 90 percent of the time the first time sometimes though I heard of many getitnhbit done twice; but you must go to a high performance hospital that does a lot of these procedures and to a very reputable good electrophysiologist who specializes in only these procedures daily you don’t want to go to just any hospital or doctor you need one who is very equipped with the latest technology and experience don’t trust the basic hospital or doctor to do this procedure.

Cardioversion is good for an indeterminate amount of time unfortunately. My mother has AFib and has had 1 last 2 days and has had one last nearly 2 years. I think she has worked out over time that's it's important to rest in the few days after she has had one as in lots of sleep and bed rest. The time when she flipped back after 2 days, she had come out if hospital and just carried on as normal. But to be honest there seems to be no rhyme or reason for how long it lasts. Drugs can help some people. She takes an ace inhibitor and diltiazam ..... not sure if these help, she still gets periodic Afib so it's certainly not a cure. Good luck with yours.
