First time poster, please excuse me if I ramble! Sometime in 2011/2012 I had my gallbladder removed, originally it was meant to be keyhole surgery but they perforated my colon so it was quickly changed to open surgery. The result being I spent 3 days in ITU and another 4 in the high dependency unit and 4 days on a normal ward before being sent home. My bowel movements were so normal I could give you exact times when I would need to go to the loo (1st thing am, 2nd time before bed). Since having my gallbladder removed I have suffered on and off with constipation, but this time round is really brutal, my last bowel movement was Thursday night (it's now Monday morning!!). I am so sore to a point where sitting down is also painful. I eat a healthy diet but I have to limit my intake of green leafy veg as I'm on warfarin for life, I eat veg everyday, I snack on fruit during the day, I drink lots of water and plenty of fresh fruit juice (also on water tablets). I also have lipedema which is abnormal fat cells, so my legs and upper arms (and my backside) are huge compared to the rest of my body. Two weeks ago I had my bowel screening kit from the NHS the results came back all clear, so I am certain that after the gallbladder op went wrong this is what has caused my constipation issues, I am not as mobile as I would like to be because having lipedema has impacted on my walking which is why I eat healthy. Normally senna cot works really well for me but I am beginning to wonder if my body has become (for the want of a better word) used this? If anyone has any advice to offer I would greatly appreciate it, so sorry for rambling on and on.....I have spoken to my gp about this but he always tells me I suffer from constipation because I am overweight!!

Good afternoon Chistine-1
Welcome to the forum, on this forum it is for healthy eating only, we can not offer medicial advice but one thing that springs to mind is to have your Thyroid function checked - to see if that is a factor. Many years ago before mine was diagnosed - I was having 30 laxative sachets a month, it did not matter how much fruit or fibre I eat, nothing would work.
Could you see a differen't GP? It sounds like your being brushed off. It sounds like you have really been through the mill and I hope you get things sorted. There are a number of useful health unlocked sites which maybe able to help you further - Maybe the IBS network as they know lots about various stomach issues or Thyroid UK
Best wishes
