Organic New Potatoes
Yummy π π
Hey these look really good Phil so nice one and you enjoy your lovely new potatoes. π
That's really great and I agree with your comments. Hubby grew them last year and they were really nice (we always used to buy them in the summer from the supermarket and have always liked them) and has planted them again this year but a bit late so won't be ready for a few more weeks yet. Did you plant any more varieties?
Agree charlottes are very good supermarket potato but superb when home grown. Looking forward to roasting them tomorrow. Iβll pick some more and have new potato salad with chives. If my parsley was ready (bit slow this year) then I would garnish it too.
Our parsley is slow this year too but last year's plants have hundreds of seeds on them.
This is my parsley which has self seeded from last years plant springcross, Phil. and Trimmerteacher. My potatoes which were left in the bag of earth last year have a few flowers on, and Iβm waiting for them to die before I have a look to see how theyβve done. ππ₯π₯π₯
That's great R. I love seeing all the little seedlings coming up. We usually get several around the garden as they seed quite prolifically don't they. I'd be interested to know how your potato plant fares, we have one in a pot from last year which is about 6'' high, hubby said it's a maincrop so won't be ready until Sept/Oct. Thanks for sharing the photo. xx
They look delicious. Iβve grown Charlotte potatoes in a big tub container for the first time ever this year. Do you mind me asking, did they flower before you started harvesting them? Mine have loads of vegetation, but no flowers. We live high up on the Pennines, if that makes a difference.
They had not flowered. Lots of leaf. These were grown in a pot as they mature earlier than those in the ground. It has been a strange spring. It was so cold at the beginning and the potatoes were slow to start. I planted mine mid-March in a pot.
I just thought that I would put my hand in one corner and rummage to see what I could find.
I live on the outskirts of London so the warmer weather will help me. I expect the Pennines to be slower. About 10-12 weeks from planting but that is only a guide. Nice to be picked when they are young. So if you can rummage around 3 months after planting, just see what you can find.
When you do pick them, enjoy. π
Thank you! I will have a poke around today π
