What fruit and vegetables are you planning on growing this year? ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿฅ’

Hi everyone.

I really appreciated home grown fruit and veg last year due to the lockdown and restrictions and have 2 allele trees 2 pear trees a quince tree plus raspberry and gooseberry bushes so am looking forward to those this summer.

I don't have a green house so will be planting lettuce soon and will but some tomato plants as soon as they appear as I enjoyed having home grown more than I could imagine last year with the ;lockdown and the restrictions.

So what will everyone else be growing is of interest to me.

Here's a photo of some baby toms on one of my tomato plants and they've spoilt me as shop bought ones don't have the same taste!

A small organic plot but surprising what can be fitted into a deep bed no dig system. So Beans (runners and french), cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes, kohl rabi (new for this year), herbs (chives, tarragon, parsley, and coriander), peas, onions, garlic and radishes.

The star and surprise last year was radish. I let it grow to full size, let it flower and then eat the seed pods. We were eating them for a couple of months. Lovely flowers. Big plant about 3' tall. The seed pods were crunchy and slightly peppery โ€“ I preferred it to the radish bulb itself.

Veggie s listed on other post, but fruit strawberries, blueberries, blackcurrant and plums. Last year I had a reasonable crop so hoping for a good one this year.

Growing your own Jerry is so good because, as you've said, you get the taste, particularly with tomatoes. Cannot beat picking your own. You've got me thinking now, think I'll get a grow bag in addition to the planters and grow tomatoes.

I think when you eat a home grown tomato straight after picking it, on a hot day when the sun has been on it the flavour is at its best.๐Ÿ™‚

Hey this all sounds good to me Dianenonebutme as you can always give seedlings away, I just plant water and then hopefully crop so you're not alone.

I hope that you have a great crop and you're enjoying yourself and thats what counts. ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hi Jerry,

The planting gives me an feeling of being at one with nature. I am enjoying myself, I may have to do a farmers market or something.๐Ÿ˜Š

We already have gooseberries, raspberries, Bramley apple in the garden this year we have added a pear tree but not expecting any fruit. Will be growing French beans, tomatoes, a small amount of mixed salad and are trying courgettes for the first time so if anyone has any tips they would be appreciated
