Flowering chive.

Hi everyone,

We don’t need a lot of space to grow herbs and I’m planting more herbs in pots as home grown is the best whatever it is. I have lots of well established herbs including rosemary and my favourite is I have 2 low hedges of lavender that I inherited when I bought the place.

This chive was given to me a few years ago and I love the flowers as it’s a sure sign of summer coming contrary to the current weather.

I’m sure we have some very innovative members who grow things in small spaces so please feel free to share.

And thank you Rachmaninov2 for the suggestion of a herb Topic as that’s a great idea, so please remember that all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Birds can’t taste the hotness in chillis. I understand it’s one of the ways to put off squirrels... you lace the bird table with chilli powder 🤨

It’s an easy one to grow, and seems to tolerate the cold well. 🙂

I love the idea of a herb topic! I have a very small pot of chives that I planted last year. It is amazing that over the winter they look like there is nothing left, then we get the first few shoots, and now, despite all the awful weather we have flowers! 😍
