Hiya.. I completely understand what you're going through as I used to suffer with ibs really severely, sometimes collapsing and injuring myself.
I think diet is a factor but more importantly I think it's important to deal with the psychological aspects and fear. It's usually some underlying fear or worry which causes it, so be coming self-aware of how you're feeling and why, I would say is key.
I rarely have a problem with ibs these days and found hijama, and colonics (although sometimes painful), really helpful.
Hoping for you all the health and happiness.

I’m a fellow sufferer now at 49 after about 25 years I’m the same toon it’s toll the other night! I had chicken salad 2 days in a row my favourite meal, but not my stomachs favourite meal! I bloated up on 2nd night like my stomach looked like a male pregnancy. The next morning I had lost 1.3kg painful indigestion throughout the night also. I am contacting local dieticians in my area as that’s the only remedy really. I eat healthy foods and my stomach doesn't like it, I eat a McDonald’s (say) & no good for my heart! It’s a catch 22 situation feel you can’t win either way, but I know you have to stick to thoroughly cooked foods for your system to digest easier
My friend suffers from IBS, she's found she is very sensitive to certain foods like chilli , milk and bread and very high fibre good . She did adjust her diet with the help of dietician and she's found taking pre biotics very very helpful. She's now able to eat more of the food that used to make her poorly, as long as she doesn't go over board. Also she mediates and does yoga as her dietician suggested stress can also be a factor. She's also found eating more slowly and really chewing her food makes it easier on her digestion. Hope these tips help and hope your feeling better soon x
I followed the link on here from Zest (thank you) & I have joined the yearly membership it looks pretty good, got support groups all over the U.K also you get a lot of information, newsletters everything. Thinking also not just in money saving in dietician regular visits, but the fact that it is specifically for just this field IBS.
Hi there energy1
I'm also an IBS sufferer and after a bout of food poisoning in November 2018 my IBS got worse overnight. I went from IBS C to IBS D and acute nausea, it was awful as it was just about every day.
I had my first appointment with a Dietitian in early January and started the Low Fodmap diet on 13 January all I can say is it's the best thing I've ever done, I feel so much better and have my life back.
The best places on the internet for information about the Low Fodmap diet are Kings College London and Monash University, Monash University in Australia created the diet. I would have found the diet very hard without a Dietician as its complicated but worth it. My doctor referred me to a Dietician. I'm in the UK.
I hope you find something that works for you.
Also, have a look at the IBS Network online, I'm a member and it's a good resource.
All the very best.
Alicia
Has your doctor carried out any tests to rule out other causes for your IBS? IBS can often be a symptom of other conditions: hormone imbalances, coeliac disease, thyroid disorders. Has your doctor carried out any tests on you?
These days, the most popular diet for IBS is the FODMAP diet, it's best if people do it with a dietician though, as there are different kinds of FODMAD diet out there.
You might find it helps you to have a trial period without gluten, dairy, soya, sugar, processed foods and alcohol, even just for 30 days. Probiotics can also help.
