is it possible to eat raw meat and not become unwell?

Of course. People eat sushi (raw fish) and carpaccio (raw beef) all the time.
Raw pork used to be considered more dangerous, because pigs could carry a particular kind of parasite (trichinosis) that could only be killed with heat, but apparently today--however they're farmed--that's rare. And a small dose of that parasite isn't deadly, anyway.
Not that I'd want to get it.
Either way, if you ate a bit of raw pork years ago you MIGHT have gotten a small Trichinella infection, but it wouldn't be a big deal. Obviously, as you're still here.
All that said, EVERYTHING carries a risk, but relatively speaking, these risks are pretty low!
Better to avoid eating raw pork meat. Because it contains too much of parasite. So, please take cooked or grilled meat is good for the body health.
It isn't recommended to eat raw meat, (especially pork), as many have parasites which can be transferred to humans. There are exceptions of course, fish is usually OK, but check where it came from as some shellfish can be contaminated by sewage.
