is it possible to eat raw meat and not become unwell?

Because when I was little I accidently ate a raw sausage and i was fine.

Of course. People eat sushi (raw fish) and carpaccio (raw beef) all the time.

Raw pork used to be considered more dangerous, because pigs could carry a particular kind of parasite (trichinosis) that could only be killed with heat, but apparently today--however they're farmed--that's rare. And a small dose of that parasite isn't deadly, anyway.

Not that I'd want to get it.

Either way, if you ate a bit of raw pork years ago you MIGHT have gotten a small Trichinella infection, but it wouldn't be a big deal. Obviously, as you're still here.

All that said, EVERYTHING carries a risk, but relatively speaking, these risks are pretty low!
