Hi I’ve never been great with knowing what foods are good or bad. I love fruits and veggies . I know breads and sugars can be bad. But that’s the extent to my healthy eating knowledge. I know some fruits can be bad because mostly sugar. So my question is what’s the do’s and don’t to healthy eating. Any meal suggestions? Night time foods that are ok to eat? I often get hungry after 8:00 and pick at food. I only eat two meals a day but sometimes pick in between meals also. Just want to eat better and lose 15 pounds. So I can feel better and fit into my clothes again.Thanks.

Hi. You may want to join the ‘Weight Loss NHS’ on this forum. You could weigh in on the same day of the week. I am in the Sunday team. If that’s convenient, please pop in this Sunday. The post will open on Saturday evening (till Sunday evening).

There you can check the ‘Daily Diary’ where folks share what they eat. I am sure you can pick up something there.

As to your question about goodies and baddies, you are right, carbs are generally considered less good and fruit/veg good.

What can also make a difference, is when you eat and how much. If you are hungry after 8 pm, you may not have eaten enough during the day. Do you want to try to have three meals a day, and skip snacking in between?

If you send me a list of a few ingredients you have at hand, I can send you some meal suggestions. Alternatively, visit Daily Diary or an online cooking community. My go-to site is bbcgoodfood.

See you soon.
