I haven’t written on here in a while but I am still around and well :).
Last year, people may know from posts I made that I was growing things I never even planted such as Chard. Not sure if it was something to do with our compost method that did it or if it was from birds dropping seeds. Whatever way, the chard is there and I never even sowed the seed.
So in the Autumn/Winter of last year the chard had gone dormant such as I and a few other of my flower but this year they have come back! I assumed that once they had gone, that was it. Well, I’m glad they didn’t go completely.
Anyhow, I sowed a few pepper seeds today but while I was there I checked out the chard and it’s looking pretty healthy. So after I helped my mum gather up a massive pile of dead leaves for composting and also exercised my legs I made a smoothie with some chard, cleavers (AKA sticky willy) and some kale. And it tasted really nice.
I try to have a smoothie each day for lunch and I usually have cucumber in it and kale or celery.
I was only going to sow a bunch of cucumber plants this year, since I eat them all the time, but have decided to eat more pepper than cucumber and probably have some spinach rather than kale.
So I’m having a bit of a change-around of what I am eating at the moment. Not really a great idea to eat the same thing day in and day out.
