Hello GraceNotes welcome to the forum and you're in great company for all things healthy eating and combined with exercise you should be able to get fit and let the pounds gradually slip away which i think is the approach you should take to lose weight and to keep the weight off.
You might find fasting helps where you don't eat for 14 hours as that helps reset our relationship with food which's what you might find to your advantage.
