Hi, I'm new here as my weight has spiralled out of control. I went to Slimming World and nearly reached my target. However, when I was in trouble, the counselor wasn't there for me. So, I have put on a stone and half in two years. I will be 70 on Saturday, but want to get back to 9.6. I am now 11. it is difficult to run as I've injured my knees while trying the C25 program. I do have a bike, which i rearly use. I am trying the healthy NHS 12 week programm as I want to get in to the habit of eating healthy. I've been a vegatarian for the last year.
Any advice and encouragement would be helpful please.
Julia

Hello Hidden firstly welcome to the forum and you are far from alone as it's so easy to let the pounds pile on and we have many members who want to lose weight so you're in great company on here for all things healthy eating and combined with exercise is the best way to lose weight.
I'd bear in mind that it's taken you 18 months to put on this weight so don't expect too much too soon, its one meal and one day at a time. One thing that often trips those dieting up is because you want to lose weight you are more conscious of food so want distractions from thinking about food and there's lots of things that you can do around the home and garden to keep yourself busy.
We have lots of topics and you will get lots of support on here as we encourage one another to eat well and be well so we will help you achieve your goals.
Happy Birthday this Saturday 🎈 thank you for introducing yourself and any questions or queries then you just ask away.
Hi Hidden I just checked the NHS plan as it is a few years since I looked at it. I think the structure and charts are really useful, but I think they still put too much emphasis on starches and not enough on healthy fats. It’s a good starting point but you may want to tweak it to suit you as you go.
That’s a shame about your knees, but it doesn’t need to stop you exercising, the bike might be better depending on the knee injury. I have to work round a slightly dodgy back and arthritis in my feet, I used to hike for hours but my limit now is around an hour, but I love my pilates and aquafit classes.
I would also check out the NHS BMI calculator as the generic 1400 calories isn’t necessary for everyone to lose weight. I’m only 4 ft 10 and menopausal but managed to lose two stone last year eating 1500-1600 calories per day, eating healthy satisfying food was instrumental in me being able to stick to that consistently.
