Filtered drinking water - Tap filter or Jug

Hello All,

At the moment, I'm using a Britta jug to filter drinking water. I'm thinking of replacing the tap with one with a built in filter.... does anyone know if taps with built in filters are better and provide cleaner water?

Thank you so much for replying. Nice to know you can do all the DIY without paying ridiculous labour fees. I'm still not sure which why to do to be honest. Even Brita have come out with their own tap and filter system. I'm tempted to give it a try... can replace it in a few years.

I use Britta maxtra filters. I buy discounted cartridges or a water filter on offer with a supply of maxtra filters on offer. There are pages in my favourite catalogue, and you may have to wade through pages as these are often not on the first page. a water distiller would be an alternative and you can buy an electronic water distiller which may remove most contaminants. There are reviews on the taste of water, and the ph levels needed on Amazon.com These may be less expensive being on a work surfaee and can filter a couple of litres which you can put into jugs for use throughout the day. Avoiding aluminium pans kettles and fluoride may also help screen out contaminants but I find maxtra fllters screen out most harmful toxins but sometimes I might have to filter the water several times until it tastes perfect. A filter will last about 30 days.

I'm tempted to try new things, but it is pricey and there are alot of other tap companies on the market doing the same thing. The guy who works in the plumbing shop doesnt have one. I reckon if it doesnt fit then it would be a pain to return back. I'll think it over the weekend. will let you know which way is best. thanks and take care. have a great weekend.
