Hi everyone,

This week is sugar awareness week and this years theme is what's in your drink as many drinks have much more sugar than we realise and thats not in anyone best interests.

I personally drink tea mostly with the odd coffee and glasses of water so I have no added sugar in any of my drinks and I don't drink alcohol, so mine is zero...

Just to add to this some energy drinks have 17 teaspoons of sugar in 500ml and the same amount of caffeine as 2 tips of espresso coffee.

This shows that the average fizzy drink has the equivalent of 8 tea spoons of sugar :

Hi Hidden

Thanks for this information, and I wanted to also link to a post I did about a year ago, which has some links to the Public Health England reports on Sugar Reduction, as they may still be of interest to people:

Hi Jerry

Thank you for sharing the information. My downfall is drinking mocha in coffee shops which I know I need to change. At home I'm going to start making my mocha with cacao powder and use Stevia as a sweetener.

Here's to a much healthier and happy life.

Alicia 😀

Hi Alicia, at least you are aware of where sugar is in your diet and you have lots of exercise so burn off a lot of energy.

I second Here's to a much healthier and happy life.

This is a great article about sugar and drinks. For me, I drink coffee and add sugar substitute sweeteners. The only time I have drinks with sugar in them is if my blood sugar is extremely low. Other wise, just water and no real sugar. :-)

Thanks Leah and you deal with your blood sugar levels really well by the sounds of it. 😊
