If I have one tip to help you on your journey it is to follow a whole food plant based diet.
Everyone who succeeds on this (and there are plenty of examples) lives by the premise of eating until you are almost full. The important thing being to eat sufficient calories for your body, age, gender, exercise regime. There is no need to be exactly precise on this, your body will tell you over time whether you are eating enough.

As an example I have just had my breakast which was a large bowl of porridge with some fruit - a banana and some prunes.
