Sometimes when I get upset or lonely I tend to eat. I want to be healthy but I used to be bulimic and I now have a daughter I have to set an example for.
Things get really hard over my way and I don’t know exactly how to cope... any pointers

Hi chelb10112 welcome to our friendly forum and well done for introducing yourself, the first thing that you must realise is that you are not alone in your emotions and actions.
Life is not a bed of roses for any of us and it's easy to think that everyone else is OK which only in creases personal isolation.
I feel for you and you rightly say you have a daughter who needs you and I'd try and find another way of getting rid of your stress than eating. You could buy some aerobic weights and have fast and furious workout that would be a great stress buster as would going out for a walk with your daughter.
Here's a link to the HU forum for Bulimia it may help you stay on track, please see:

I wish you well and if you want support and support to eat well and have a healthy lifestyle you will get lots of support on here.
Jerry 😊
I struggled with an eating disorder in the past that is starting again hun, message me if you need a chat I know how awful you must be feeling with worrying. Yes you need to set an example for your daughter, but I think it could also be a good way (depending how old she is) to introduce her to these topics so she is aware and knows in future if she struggles with an eating disorder/ mental health issue that she’s not alone because her mother knows how it feels and will understand. I have a new friend who told me that she explained to her children that ‘mummy has a poorly brain’ (depression and anxiety) and honest to god her children are so understanding already and it’s a pressure off her shoulders. She’s a single mother and I know it’s really helped her worry a little less about keeping everything too bottled up and hidden and also helped her little family become even closer because they understand that sometimes somethings wrong and that it’s okay to have problems and nothing to be ashamed of.
Something I want to do is begin taking up some hobbies again. I have fibromyalgia and because I cannot be that active due to the pain my body isn’t burning the calories and that’s triggering my past ED. I think taking up some active hobbies could be helpful as it is a distraction and will help you feel better about yourself. I’ve just started Pilates and it’s all about control which in a way is helping me gain control over other things other than my body too. I really recommend Pilates. When you’re upset, the best thing I do is to cry it out and distract myself. Movies are a good way to do that because you become engrossed in the story and can forget about your hunger. Please try to keep the balance though, don’t go the other way and limit your eating too much out of fear of binge eating etc.
Much love xxx
