Is Only Eating Once A Day At Night Causing My Stomach Problems?

For years I've been only eating once a day, but at night. Could this be causing bloating, wind, cramping, stomach hardness, weight gain and constipation?

Laxido seems to make me feel like I need a poo, but nothing passes for five days. I get piles, bile, blood, all the time. It gets very painful to strain.

I have Extreme Anxiety Disorder so could it be why I'm suffering?

Gp prescribed Omezaprol, which has lessened the cramping. My stomach is still uncomfortable and I have dizziness most of the time, fatigue, tiredness, headaches, nausea and constant thirst.

Gp uncertain if it's IBS or I'm perimenopausel.

I rarely get out cos I'm scared of wetting/pooing myself, which heightens my Agoraphobia and Depression. I don't get exercise or fresh air. I'm 49 but feel my body is much older.

Feeling I will never break the cycle to enable me to escape my prison, is torture! Please help.

Your GP doesn't sound like they've been much help. Could you ask for a referral to a gastroenterologist ?

Eating one meal a day at night doesn't seem like the healthiest approach. Could you try eating more regularly and seeing if that helps? Also if you are that constipated then increasing the amount of fibre in your diet is a good idea.

I can't eat more than once. I was borderline anorexic 5 years ago. I don't enjoy it! I wouldn't eat at all if I didn't need to to survive.

I feel in some ways everyone has said much of what needs to be said. You WILL have trouble moving to real food from the plastic you have been used to. Your gut will not be used to it and will object violently. So take the above advice seriously

Thankyou but I can't stand cottage cheese!

I can't eat nuts cos I'm allergic and I'm allergic to egg white.

I chew my food properly, considering I've got dentures!

I can't afford healthy food every day!

I'm in a dark place . I know it's only me that can help me.

Thankyou again for your advice. Much appreciated.

Hope I am not too late with my answer. Good advice by Concerned:

"Your gut bacteria will be having a hard time from all the preservatives you eat. The way to think of this is that preservatives are used to slow spoiling, and in order to do this they impair bacteria from functioning. Unfortunately, there's no distinguishing from the bacteria that is attempting to spoil the food, and the bacteria that is trying to aid digestion in your gut. Go for unprocessed foods to avoid the preservatives. The fish and chicken that are still recognisable as flesh, and would spoil within days (or hours if not refrigerated) if not eaten are a good example what to aim for. "

The preservatives can be very harmful to health if you consume it constantly in large quantities. You can read more about its harmful effects in this article: livestrong.com/article/4164...

So, I think it woul be better to limit its consumption. If you want to improve your bowel function, you can also pay attention to probiotics. But only in case when it will be approved by your doctor. My mother used probiotics when she had problems with digestion. It guess it helped her, because now she eats more varied foo bestadvisers.co.uk/probiotics
