How to give chocolate up and how to lose weight fast

Hi. My name is Paula and I am only 16. I am big and fat and I want to lose weight. I am a massive chocolate fan. I can eat a whole Easter egg and still want more. But recently, I have been feeling negative about myself and I want to lose weight, so I can wear what normal teenagers wear. Also, I want to wear a bikini or swimming costume on without being self conscious of what I look like and I want to be able to go into places with out feeling like I am going to get judged about how fat I am and I want to change that. I have also been really worried if I have diabetes or something like that. So if you can help me I will be more then grateful.

Kind regards,

Paula Chalk

Hi and welcome to the group. Please feel free to continue posting and adding comments, asking questions, take a look at the Topics/Polls/Events/Pinned Posts sections for information and ideas. Also, meet the rest of the group members. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.😀👍

As for the weight loss, has your doctor suggested that you go on a low carb high protein diet? Have you been tested for Diabetes? Did you get an A1c (3-4 month blood test for the last 90 days for blood sugars)? Depending on the results, the doctor will have to explain to you if you have to be put on insulin shots/pumps, how to count carbs, if you just need exercise and change your diet plan, or pills/medication for lowering your blood sugar levels.

I’m a type 1 Diabetic and I use insulin and eat a low carb high protein diet. I count carbs for each meal and snack so I don’t go extremely high or low. I also have a Continuous Glucose Monitoring system for tighter control of the blood sugars since I don’t feel lows.

Hi Paula,

Welcome to the Healthy eating forum. There is always a lot of chocolate around over Easter - it seems to be everywhere. I wonder if you can maybe put it out of sight, or gift it away, so you don't have too much temptation in your path.

Have you had a look at the NHS weight loss forum? It has lots of support for the weight-loss side of things, and if you'd like to have a look, here is a link:

I know you've been worrying about Diabetes, so it might be worth talking through your concerns with your GP.

Maybe checking out what your current BMI (body mass index) will give you some indication regarding you are near the healthy range or whether you need to lose weight.

Wishing you a good weekend, and hope you'll enjoy participating in the Healthy eating forum.

Zest :-)

[Dr. Douglas Lisle (& Dr. Alan Goldhamer) explain it well. 👍👍 ]

You may feel a lot better about yourself (negative thoughts subside) once you understand the addictive nature of some of foods that we love 🥰 (chocolate 🍫 being 1) & how it hooks 🎣 into our own addictive human nature. 😯 🤭

Slow & steady with loving 🥰 patience 😌 🙏 , you can break the ‘addiction’. You can lose weight.

Kindly consider 🤔 allowing yourself time. 🕰 📆 🗓

.

You sound wonderfully motivated 🙋‍♀️ & ready to start, Paula. 👏 . . 👍👍

If you’re looking for some weight-reducing food ideas, Chef AJ ( google.com/search?as_q=Chef... , m.youtube.com/user/therealc... ) might be a fun jumping off point? 🤔

.

In meantime, if you must "have your (chocolate 🍫 ) cake 🎂 & eat it too" 😉 😁 , there’s a ‘guilt-free’ chocolate cake recipe that’s a ‘healthier’ chocolate treat that might help transition off chocolate Easter eggs 🍫🥚s & 🍫🐇ies . . . 😁 😋 :

. . . Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s Never-Get-Sick Chocolate Cake: doctoroz.com/recipe/dr-joel...

[It’s a bit of effort to make (lots of ingredients), but it’s more ‘nutritious’ than typical chocolate treats for when we must get our ‘fix’. ☺️ ]

.

Wishing you the very best, paula_chalk02! ☺️ 🙏 🍀 🌺 🌞

.

Oh . . . no worries . . . the 👙 will come in time! 😎 👗 👡 🌝 . . .

[You’ve time⏳/ youth 👼 & willingness to change on your side. ✔️✔️✔️ ]

.

And, you’ll reduce the probability of diabetes (& numerous other maladies) once you develop & maintain healthy lifestyle/ dietary habits which will serve you well not only throughout your teen years, but throughout your life. 😊

Your new-found health will be reflected in your weight/ outward appearance over time. 👍👍

Please, kindly remember, you’re always beautiful 🌺 inside 💓 & out 💃, Paula 👩 .

Treat yourself with the loving kindness 🥰 you well deserve!! 🤗 💐

Hi Paula, as Kai says slow and steady wins the race. If you go for a fast weight loss plan you will risk depression associated with yo-yo dieting. It is all about the calories. Whole food plant based lifestyles are generally around 1/2 the calories of meat-based eating. This means you can eat your fill at each and every meal and still lose weight. I am not talking about small meals here, I am talking about eating big platefulls of delicious food at each and every meal - and still losing weight.

A quick weight loss tip I picked up the other day you might want to try. BEFORE each meal, whatever that meal, eat a whole apple. I am not saying drink apple juice, I am talking about a whole apple. Then eat your meal, whatever it is. The apple fills you up and you will actually begin to lose weight. But you must eat it before any and every meal.

You can apply this to your chocolate. Eat a whole apple before your chocolate. That way you can still get your chocolate fix! Let us know the result.
