Welcome to HE group.

If you are struggling with weight, consider following LCHF dietary approach to lose weight effortlessly. In this approach, you will be eliminating/reducing consumption of GPS from your diet. GPS: Grains, Potatoes and Sugar.

Hello lala1233

You have already been given two suggestions above, one low carb, one low fat, both work well for the many people who follow them, they can have opposing viewpoints at times but a general consensus seems to be avoiding refined and processed foods.

I sit somewhere in the middle - I don’t eat anything manufactured to be “low fat” as it’s often processed with lots of additives, I eat natural fat daily (dairy, eggs, avocado, nuts, olive oil). I did at first go quite low carb but found that didn’t work for my digestive processes so I’ve added back moderate carbs but prioritise high fibre ones with minimal processing.

I keep a track of calories to lose weight (lost almost two stone since January and brought my prediabetic blood sugars back into the healthy range) I still have just under a stone to lose - working on that slowly!

I think a stone in a month would be a very fast rate of loss unless you are extremely overweight, you could risk losing muscle and being very fatigued which wouldn’t help your medical condition, but you could certainly lose a few pounds and feel lighter and more comfortable, possibly more energetic, with a healthier diet.

Good luck 😀

I'm probably going to second this - you cover most of what I'd say! Cut the processed foods, up the fibre-rich vegetables.

Losing a stone in a month is probably a lot to lost if you're only a stone overweight, but I suppose if you're 5 stone overweight, it'd be more achievable.

Hi Lala1233,

I don’t know what your medical condition is? But, can you walk any distance unaided? I have type 2 diabetes and I walk 1 mile every morning but I walk quickly to get the heart pumping and burn some calories, I find that this works for me. When I started out walking it used to take me 20 mins to do the mile, now I am down to 15 mins to the mile so something is happening! I also look st the following site daily for tips and advice on dieting and exercise getfiturself .com check it out you never know!

Keep going you will win in the end

OK Lala.

Time to get real the first thing is to truly believe in yourself that you want to reduce your weight from then on it gets easier and the more you loose the better you feel.

I joined slimmers world 11 weeks ago and I have now lost nearly three stone I don't do lots of exercise as I am now 71 years old so I concentrated on diet and believe me it works if you find it hard to cook all the time due to work etc then there are other way's like Iceland Foods do a whole section on slimmers world foods ready made it's not ideal but they are very good value and it takes the strain of cooking all of the time so give it a go.

Go to the slimmers world site and sample some of the offerings there is so much to choose from and good luck remember if you really want to loose weight you will.

Why not try doing some gentle exercises in the comfort of your own home?

Perhaps in a chair or in bed?

The thought of starting university or college must be daunting in itself, so don't put any more onto yourself!!
