I've been trying to monitor my stats more as I think this is a great topic, today I walked 5.1 miles and my av heart beat was 116bpm ranging between 64 bpm and 116bpm burning 774 calories and I took 10352 steps.
I love being outside and its so healthy walking especially in a pleasant environment. Here's a photo I took where 2 streams meet and you can see the carpet of golden leaves on the forest floor as far as the eye can see, it's been overcast but I think there's a natural beauty regardless of the weather.
Its a great stress buster getting out there and getting away from it all and having exercise at the same time, I feel really good for it as well...๐
Thank you Debs and the truth is I'm not very good at sitting still and like being active, I'm looking forward to seeing what the forest looks like when its snowed and we have snow forecast for Friday.
When I was in the forest I stumbled across a deer drinking at the stream and we both spooked each other and they were off before I could photo them. So I realise how hard it is to take great wildlife photo's like you do. ๐
How lovely seeing deer drinking from a stream, such magnificent animals, I always have the urge to give them a cuddle and nuzzle like with a cat, but I am sure they would not approve.
The forest will look amazing covered in snow. The camera has an excellent zoom so I don't have to get too close : >
Thank you Leah, I know forests are trees and more trees but there's something magical about them and being in them. And it's a fantastic way to get exercise. ๐
Hi, Jerry. Thanks for starting this up! I'm 61 and have Parkinson's. Over the last few years, studies have shown that vigorous exercise can slow PD's progress, so there are many of us in HU's Parkinson's Movement group that are working hard to achieve that.
So I "fast walk" about 3 miles a day on average. Yesterday I walked 4 miles and according to my fitbit, my average hb was 121 with a high of 134. Keep in mind that my goal is what the latest study called "vigorous" exercise, which they defined as 80-85% of my max heartbeat.
I live in the foothills near Yosemite, so we're both fortunate to have natural beauty around us! Again, thanks for starting this up. Today's just started, so I've only gone a mile so far.
Hi Jas, thank you too it was Zests idea and I think it's great because healthy eating and exercise go hand in hand.
I'm sorry that you have Parkinson's and it makes sense that you will slow it by getting more blood flowing through your body, so good for you.
I think that your stats are really good and it must be lovely living near Yosemite. ๐
