Can anyone recommend a diet?

I've let my health eating go down the drain since it wasn't helping enough and now i'm paying for it. My symptoms have been getting worse and i'm in a really bad place now. I'm waiting on results from my doctor for blood tests i had done to hopefully get a diagnosis. I suspect it's thyroid issues, maybe hashimoto's.

I was given a healthy diet plan by my local gym recently. However, my gp has recommended the mediteranean type of diet: oily fish, vegetables etc. My diet is poor but I reckon any change has to be done gradually otherwise it is unrealistic. My advice would be to wait for the results of the blood tests and then look at changing one thing in your current diet, ie drink water instead of fizzy drinks or change your breakfast to porridge or muesli. Less sugar and salt also helps!

Hi healthiskey,

I know how you feel. I got hypothyroidism. My digestion is a bit upside down. I quit gluten and feel so much better! I don't have dairy for years as I could not tolerate it. Will get tested on coeliac in July but I have a feeling I got IBS as it's very common. What are your symptoms? I would recommend low carb gluten free diet, cut sugar down. I know it's hard from experience but feeling much better. Sugar is one of the worst drug!!! I only use a bit of agave syrup for baking or in my hot chocolate. Quit soy as it's not good with the thyroxine medication. Also try to eat real food instead of processed food. It's really important. I hope you have time to cook, it's very enjoyable. People post delicious foods on this forum. I hope you feel better soon🙂

Hi healthiskey ,

I agree with Hidden about seeing what the results will be in the next few weeks. You can talk to your doctor about what you can eat that is gluten free before you change your diet plan. This way, you both know what you have been eating during the day and evening hours. I eat gluten free since I have a wheat/gluten intolerance. Breakfast is always eggs and a Greek yogurt— unless I go on vacation.
