Shakshuka

Hi everyone,

Thought to share a pic of my lunch. Today I made Shakshuka for the first time which is a Tunisian dish. It's easy to make, there are a few recipes online. I had it with rice which is not the best side with it. Next time I will have it with either potato or gf bread😊

That looks so good Aretak. I had to google it as not heard of it before and there seems to be lots of variations of it? Is that an egg on top? very yum :)

Yes, it is an egg from the local farm😊 Some people like to mix it with the veg, it depends but there are a few variations. I added some spinach leaves too.

Hi Zest,

Thank you. Yes, I loved it so had to save it in my recipe book☺️

Used to be an Israeli restaurant near me that did a pretty good version of that (outrageously spicy). They served it with pita. Very nice.

I read it that it's originally from Tunisia and now it's very popular in the middle east. The recipe had chilli which I had to leave out as I got a sensitive stomach. I should have it with homemade gf bread next time yum!🙂

Hi Aretak, what a lovely meal and photo so thanks for posting it, my favourite egg is poached so poached egg with spicy peppers and tomato sounds great to me. 😊

That looks really great, thanks for posting :)

I was googling it too and came across something similar but without the egg called Galayet bandora, which I will try as I don't eat eggs
