A rheumatologist is the best person to treat RA.

A doctor may not be the best person to help with arthritis because all the drug treatments for it can cause worse problems than the disease - which is not life-threatening, after all. I have found increasing my intake of Omega 3 and decreasing my intake of Omega 6 and saturated fats keeps me very mobile. And exercise helps a lot of course. Cut out fatty meats and processed meats, eat small amounts of lean poultry and fish, lots of vegetables and fruits. Cut out dairy fat. I have a quarter to half a pint of skimmed milk a day, plus quite a lot of fat free yogurt, which tastes great these days - don't know how they make it taste so creamy! You can use it with fruit instead of cream, or with salad instead of mayo. I like it with porage and muesli too. Beware sunflower oil as it is very high in Omega 6, which encourages inflammation in older people. Most factory-made savoury snacks eg. potato crisps are fried in sunflower oil, and some margarines are made from it. So use rapeseed oil for cooking and extra virgin olive oil cold on salads or on a baked potato instead of butter. Rapeseed oil marge is best, or just dip your bread in cold olive oil - you can get to like the taste! Pilchards are highest in Omega 3 and mackerel and wild salmon are high in it too.

I take 2000 ml of fish oil every day - preferable to liver oil because of the pollution in the North Sea.

RA is an auto immune disease. Try low carb diet. Good fats are not harmful. So don't avoid them.

RA is an autoimmune disease, so what one eats can have an harmful or beneficial effect on the immune system.

I find Chris Kresser's advice on gut health & allergies good, as well as free. This might be helpful to you: chriskresser.com/will-i-hav...

For those suffering from autoimmune diseases like Crohn’s disease, celiac disease, or other serious chronic illnesses, an elimination diet can be a powerful healing tool. But these diets can be really limiting and make eating with friends or going out to dinner extremely challenging. Today I’ll discuss diet restrictions and how often it is possible to reintroduce favorite foods after a period of time.
