Well, here I am, all 13st 7lbs of me and, having just gone through the first page or two of this site, I've had a reality check!
I now know that my aim of "losing a stone or two" is not going to be enough. My BMI is too high at 27.4 and I need to lose about 3st 4lbs to get to a moderately healthy weight.
Welcome to the Healthy Eating forum, and I'd like to wish you luck with your goals to lose some weight. You might want to also consider joining the NHS weight loss forum (if you've not already done so) as they have weekly weigh-ins - you can choose the day you weigh-in (depending on availability) and it's very motivating and supportive. Just another source of support to consider on your journey, and the NHS choices website pages are really good resources too. The NHS 12 week plan is excellent - I think so anyway, and I think it's worth a look, if you've not seen it.
Hi mck24, you are not alone with the reality check. I wonder if it felt like a relief in some way to see it in black and white that change is needed? I am new to this too and need to lose 23 pounds. Wish you luck with your aim. Justine
Well done, you have made the first step in knowing what you have to do. Look at web for Dr Esselstyne, will not be hungry and do not have to count calories
There are plenty of 'diets' you can follow, but it needs to be one you will stick with. It will have to become a way of life.
Primal, Paleo, Ketogenic, high fat, medium protein, low carb (the one I would pick) and others. Or take the bits that you can manage from these and make up your own!
