Fruit in Jelly, just on a Whim

Dear All,

I have just made 'Fruit In Jelly', very quickly, almost whilst I was Getting Ready, for bed. I had some, really delicious Raspberries, in the fridge and a Blackcurrant jelly, 'Knocking About'. I made the jelly, in a plastic jug (don't worry it's a Good one), I let it dissolve and placed it in a- half full- bowl of water, into which I also put the fruit.

After I had Cleaned my Teeth and 'Did' my tablets, about ten minutes, I removed the fruit from the bowl. I cut the fruit through as I 'distributed it, into six 'Manikin' dishes. I then simply poured the, by now cooled, jelly into the bowls and placed them in the Fridge.

I know that you can buy these 'things, I often do, but 'Homemade' was too tempting😋. Quick, easy and, no doubt, Delicious too.

My favourite is to use a small can of mandarins in juice (not syrup) combined with an orange jelly melted in some boiling water (Hartley’s is my favourite). Tastes so fresh and fruity and, when set, really good with a dollop of plain yoghurt.... x

Next time if you've got a bit of Victoria sponge at home, cut it into small pieces, add it to the fruit and jelly....... Home made trifle

Hi AndrewT

That sounds very tasty - glad you enjoyed it. I imagine it was lovely and cooling!

Zest :-)

We love fruit in jelly. Milk jelly is good to. Whip a tin of evaporated milk until is really frothy .Melt the jelly cubes with a little bit of water and then beat into the milk and leave it set. My mum did this when I was a kid and now I do it with my kids.
