I don't think that it is a crime to night eat I mean 7pm isn't exactly what you would call night either but think the key is moderation

I think this is a common problem because you are indoors, tired from a long day and possibly bored/around food. One way to try and deal with this issue is to reorganise your evenings somewhat, try going for a walk, doing a craft that keeps hands busy and mind busy, having an early bath with tooth brushing, go to bed a bit earlier. substitute food for drinks and if you must nibble have a big bowl of cucumber, carrot sticks etc to eat you way through. summer is a good time to try and deal with this habit. Good luck!

I have the same problem. I have a routine of having my tea about 5.30pm and then watching TV. I pretty much graze constantly whilst watching TV.

I haven't found a solution yet but things I have found that help are: drinking plenty of water or herbal tea throughout the day and the change of routine that somebody else suggested by doing something that's a treat. I think I associate food with relaxation and spoiling myself so I need to think of other things that do this.

I might try a short evening meditation, this one is good

Good luck, let me know how you get on

I used to have this problems too until I switched to a high carb low fat diet. I found that I was completely satisfied and had no urge to eat at night anymore. As soon as I transitioned to veganism I found I no longer ate at night either but definitely try hclf - was a life saver. lost over 30 pounds from just that too.

I agree with the tooth brushing at a certain time. For me (I am a binge eater) it is 7:30. I brush my teeth and consider my mouth and my kitchen closed for the evening. I am not always successful, but it does help. I also have started a ritual of having a nice hot cup of peppermint tea as my last item of the day. It's just another reminder to my mind that I am done eating.

My feeling is that if you are eating a healthy, substantial dinner, that you can feel hungry and still not eat until breakfast the next morning.

I agree with all the comments, relaxation is important at the end of the day.

Foodwise, try having a vegetable cream which is quite relaxing and avoid dry crunchy foods. Something like warm creamy carrot soup, or pumpkin, courgette, etc. I would make it creamy by blending it and not by adding dairy to it. Dairy is not very digestible and I wouldn't recommend it really.

All the best!

Exactly this. When bored I eat. Keeping occupied is one of the best ways to avoid the temptation. Especially after a long day at work and then when you sit down and relax in front of the television you just want something? I used to gorge packets of biscuits, bars of choc in one go with my cup of tea. I stopped having those cups of tea and just had to stop with the snacking. I had to do it and it was tough but the hard work paid off. Sometimes I will have a treat but it will be once a week or fortnight. If I carried on the way I was it was just getting out of hand. Told myself I am not going to die of hunger, can get through to tomorrow morning and have my breakfast to look forward to. I like going to bed hungry - those hunger pains so go. Good luck to you.
