C25K & Healthy Eating

Hi all, need a bit of advice. What's the best foods to eat to help lose weight. I'm currently 14stone and on W4, R1 of my C25K.

I do train every day and I know I don't eat enough but that's because I don't know what to eat so I will go a whole day and have a bowl of cereal and a litre of water.

Any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance

Hi GreenGirl89

Welcome to the Healthy eating forum. Great that you're doing C25K as well - and I hope your training is going well.

Maybe have a look around the forum, and especially our Pinned posts and Topics - there are lots of meal ideas there - so you can see what kind of things you like - there are recipes as well.

Zest :-)

I’m not sure what C25K is, but I can certainly give you advice! The best thing you can do is focus on whole fruits, a variety of veggies, lean proteins (low fat like chicken, turkey, fish, etc.), whole grains, and low-fat or fat-free dairy!

Try and get a fruit and/or veggie at every meal. Fiber (found in fruits, veggies, whole grains, etc.) will help you feel fuller for longer after a meal so it’s great to add to your diet. Weight loss happens when you’re expending more calories than you’re taking in. I like to track my calories, but I find that it’s much easier to workout to stay under my calorie goal.

Healthy, sustainable weight loss is about 1-2 pounds per week. Patience is key!! Good luck to you in your journey - don’t give up, all good things take time ☺️

I was intrigued by High Carb Hannah's story on youtube yesterday. youtube.com/watch?v=JSmFenA...

She lost 70lb using a high-carb diet and a little exercise. Her main point, which I had not appreciated before, was a key reason to lose weight slowly is to help keep the skin intact. Anyone who loses a lot of weight fast risks having unnatractive skin folds.

Slow and steady wins the race. And for that you need a whole food plant-based diet which naturally matches your bodies needs for nutrition and good health.

Thanks all for your advice. I think I've finally found out why I might not be loosing weight now I've asked to have my bloods done by another doctor. Turns out my thyroid levels are below the lowest end (below 0.35) so hopefully now I can get myself sorted.

Also this explains my headaches, dizziness and always feeling tired and eating little to nothing.
