2015 slow start

I lost a net 12lbs in 2014 and hoping to lose more than that in 2015, any advice on how to tame my sweet tooth would be welcome!

On the subject of artificial sweeteners, you shouldn't be eating processed foods anyway, but if you are working your way off them, dump anything with aspartame or Splenda. Aspartame is notorious for side effects and makes you hungry; Splenda will give you a royal case of diarrhea. I know because I did it! If you want to sweeten tea, cereal, whatever, go with stevia, and start with half what you would use with sugar. Adjust from there and work on cutting back so you don't need the sweet. It's all a matter of what you are used to.

Sugar is hidden in everything. I have started making my own salad dressing because bottled dressings are ridiculously high in sugar. I sprinkle on basil or Italian seasonings, pepper, salt, onion flakes and a little stevia over the top, then pour on some olive oil. Works great. (I've never liked vinegar and oil.)

One side note- people think fruit juice is good for you. It's not- it's loaded with fructose and is every bit as bad as carbonated drinks; they will pack on the pounds just as fast. If you want orange juice, eat an orange, don't drink the juice of who knows how many in a glass. The fiber in the orange helps your body process that fructose.

Congrats on the pounds you have already lost; hope you do well this year!

I also suffer from sugar cravings. I find that if I take a cinnamon tablet it helps me to avoid a binge. Also I try to make sure that I'm not hungry when I go shopping so that I don't succumb there. I try not to have anything nice in the house! Hope that helps

I make frozen fat free yoghurt with fresh fruit and a little powdered stevia (a natural sugar free alternative, it is 3x sweeter than sugar) all mixed together then frozen. Fat and sugar free

Thanks all I will have to look into those!!
