Hi folks I've only recently been diagnosed with PTSD AND EMOTIONALLY DETACHED.

I really struggle to get out and meet people face to face.

When it get over the top I react physically in different ways. Jerking, face sinking and eventually black outs. Along with the ache and pains .

Hi Mark,

Welcome to the community.

Having diagnosis at least brings some clarity. It's a start.

Emotional numbness and detachment are often part of the ptsd.

Social anxiety and/or agoraphobia are among the big ones as they impact a person's life so greatly that the normal functioning is very difficult to impossible.

The physical symptoms you describe are also ptsd-related. Although it's advised to rule out any possible physical condition first. But very often there is nothing wrong yet the somatic symptoms can be severe, when there is an overload.

That's a lot to take on. I wish you a lot of strength...

Welcome, Mark! You'll find this a very supportive community of people who really "get it" when you talk about your PTSD symptoms.

Welcome Mark. I'm glad you are part of the community. I hope that you can find your path that works for you. Going through ptsd is a really difficult thing but you can heal. It is a process. I hope you look for what works for you. Therapy, journal writing, books, walking, meditation, prayer. I hope that you can call people and tell them what you need. I hope that you have patience with yourself and allow yourself to discover what helps you. Believe me you aren't alone. Glad you are here. Take care.

Hi Mark i had been through a period of time when just leaving my house took so much courage and energy. I stopped going out for sometime. But the more i sleep in morning..the more bad dreams i have. Then i started going for short walks just near my home. I would get exhausted easily so i rested frequently.

I avoided looking at people because i would feel so inferior seeing others so srong and healthy. I looked at the sky..listen to the birds. I touched the leaves and smell the flowers. I find i become calm when i look at trees.

Before i go to bed i would tell myself that i would go for a walk in the morning. It makes it easier to wake up. The great news is that no matter what we have been through..we can learn to heal. Our wounded brain keeps healing. Cheering you on. The dark clouds are passing..i tell myself that.
