Michele Rosenthal had medically induced PTSD. I understand more than you could possibly realise. I think you will have a huge variety of people who identify totally with your situation. I just want you to know you are not alone right here, right now. Hospitals and so called "health professionals" are massive triggers to so many of us. Hope you get some great responses. xx

Yes, I have had PTSD as a result of medical trauma. I had severe complications following open heart surgery 2 years ago and experienced NDE, multiple organ failure, strokes. I was in coma 9 days and ventilated in ICU 11 days. My PTSD symptoms have decreased considerably although for a while I had flashbacks that were triggered by smells, type of light outside, seeing hospitals, etc and would feel like I was "back there". Now it's less common for me to experience these symptoms and I recognize them more quickly and can bring my focus to the present. I did a lot of journaling, art, and talking with my therapist and friends, all of which helped a lot. I hope things get better for you soon.

Thank-you for sharing! What does "back there" feel like? Do you have health anxiety?

Yes, it is hard for me to put into words because I was very young.

I had a very rare side effect to 1 dose of a popular prescribed medication. The effects lasted for 25 days. During that time I went to the ER 4 times. The worst part was that it was so rare some of the ER docs did not know what it was and didn't really help me. My family Dr. had to explain to me that I was only the 4th person he knew ever to have this happen and that if I had taken more I could have been in the ICU or worse. This reaction messed with my nervous system. It was like a panic attack on steroids for 25 days. It was the worst thing I had ever been through from a medication that was supposed to help me. Right now I am dealing with pretty severe new PTSD symptoms because of this on top of old PTSD. This took me out of my normal routine and I even had to leave work.

So sorry this happened to you. I too had a drug reaction-nms reaction to the drug Reglan given to me during surgery. Fever of 107 and muscle rigidity and very fast heart rate with blood pressure all over the place. I woke up a very different person. It been over a year since the trauma. I pray for peace and healing for us both.
