just wanted to share something if nothing else to make you all smile.this time last year my boy was pretty much semi comatose.the term they use is minimally concious.nil by mouth all whistles/bells etc.today i visited and a young lady came in and asked what he wanted for takeaway night.he asked both verbally and with word board for a 10 inch bol pizza garlic sauce and can 7 up.he was kinda vexed no chinese was on offer tonite, but thems the breaks..its very very hard for us mams, but i go through all of my dairies and am gobsmacked some of the things i wrote.they were though at the time what i felt most of it not good.i guess what im trying to say is never give up.i have made a start writing my experiences, they wont be the same as others, but if i can just reach and share what i learned/know got to be for the good...

Hi D, your post certainly raised a smile for me. Hope Sean really enjoys his takeaway tonight - he really has come a long way. Yes it is very hard for us mams but we have been with them at every stage and will continue to be as we know giving up isn’t an option.

I am sure any experiences/advice that can be passed to others will be welcomed by other families.

Take care. Nanapal x

Really heartening news D. It's been one hell of a challenge for you both but heartening to hear that further signs of progress and 'normality' are kicking in.

Love to you both as always.. Cat Xx

Hi D, I’ve got tears in my eyes, and a big smile on my face, I think that’s what we should always pass to anyone joining our group, onwards and upwards and never ever give up HOPE, and I hope Chinese is on the menu next time for Sean lots of love Alice xx

Hi D, I’ve read and empathised with what you and your son have been through this last year so it’s lovely to hear your boy is fighting on and has come such a long way. I haven’t kept a diary but kind of wished I had as my son has also reached the milestone of being able to communicate what he’d like for tea … it’s always chicken ;)) These are big steps; ones I never thought he’d reach.

Wishing your boy continued progress! Lots of love xx

That's lovely news. I kept a diary for the first 3 months, whilst he was in hospital, and I wish I'd kept it up as I think it's a really good thing to do. 🤞 He goes on improving. X

That's really good, so happy for you. There's no change here from 12 months ago. My partner would have loved this weather, he'd be out in the garden basking in the sunshine. All the best.

Flipping love this!!!I remember some of your first posts. I don't think anyone could understand that moment when you look back and think "(insert swear here) did that actually happen, was that real?!" And you look where you are now and the progress is so very very significant. These are no small gains when you look at the big picture! These gains are massive and bloody hard won. I'm so so glad to read these words and I'm grinning that he was not impressed at the lack of a Chinese option! 😆😆😆❤️
