Setting your contact and data sharing preferences

Hi all,

I just wanted to let you know about the new email and data preferences settings in the community.

We are aware that many people do not receive as many notification emails as before, and changing this setting should help you to keep up-to-date with the community again.

To change your email and data sharing settings:

- Click on your name in the green menu bar at the top of the page

- Click on 'Account'

- Click the Edit button next to 'Contact preferences' and select the options you would like. When you're finished, click the red Done button.

We recommend you tick most of the options to help you connect with new posts and questions on the site, and get regular reviews of the activity.

What is Data Sharing?

HealthUnlocked works with not-for-profit and commercial research partners to aid understanding and awareness in health. We share de-identified, completely anonymous information with these partners only where users consent.

I hope this information helps, please let us know if you have any problems, or report issues through the 'Help' option above.

Best wishes,

Andrew

Headway.

Very helpful Andrew. Hopefully lessons have been learned ref the extreme PITA of changes when dropped from a height on those of us with cognitive issues. A bit worrying that that's not writ large on page one of all HW actions, but hey-ho...

Hi Bards,

Thank you and I agree with your comment - the change certainly has more impact on many of our members than it might for other HealthUnlocked communities.

Unfortunately with the number of communities growing so fast I understand there was no choice but to change things, so we're on hand to help if anyone needs support. Do let us know if there are any particular issues of concern.

Best wishes,

Andrew

Thanks Andrew, in view of Bards comments about size of some of the writing, especially contact preferences, I have just played about with MAGNIFIER it may help him and others not only for that but anything you to read in larger type. Only thing is it got long winded and complicared for me to remember everything. Nut here goes! Click on Start-Accessories-Accesibilty-Magnifier.

I suggest that 1st thing is to minimise to deskop taskbar, the page you want to view. then do above. For the 1st time of magnifier setup just follow instruxtions you can also choose level of magnificarion.

Perhaps you or someone at Headway who is more competent than I am now, when it comes to following teehnical info, hopefully can follow this feature and I think that once set up it will still be there to use on re-starting computer next time.

For info I am currently working on a 4 yr old Notebook with XP as OS. My PC bought new 1 month before my BI, with only Wins 8 is currently bring repaired but I cannot understand that OS- hence why in for repair and don;t have a visible taskbar at bottom of screen either or stiul haven't found it. Too much too learn I;ve never used Wins 7 ! Do their programmes also have Magnifier?

I can see it would be a useful tool for so many people with vision problems me incl., since their BI's, so hope Headway could work on a set instructions for using it dependin. on OS Its fiddly to start with but with perseverance we can get there! I remnered Accessibility from many years spent working in office adminidtration and at homr on computers ans thought well I don't need that - little did I know what lay ahead for me and hundreds/thousands of us! Sorry to be so longwinded. Off to follow your instructions now for updating preferences.

Hi Janey,

I'm sorry to hear this, I noticed this had been mentioned on one of our conversations at the weekend.

Please get in touch with HealthUnlocked directly and they can try and find out what's going on, and hopefully restore any deleted posts for you.

You can email them at: support.healthunlocked.com/...

I hope this helps, and please let us know if you have any further issues.

Best wishes,

Headway

Hi CuriousConnie,

If you click/tap on someone's username (the blue text), it should open up their profile. This will show you anything the person has written about themselves. It's optional so not all profiles will include this information, but many do.

I hope this helps, do let us know if there's anything else you need :)

Best wishes,

Andrew

Hi Mark,

At the top of the page where you see your current profile picture, if you hover over it with your mouse and click, you'll get the ability to select a photo.

I'm not sure how this works on a mobile device, so I'd suggest trying it on a desktop/laptop computer.

Let us know if that works, and we're happy to help if you need anything else.

Best wishes,

Headway
