2 years ago after TBI I had horrendous dizziness to the point of falling over .. my GP referred my to ENT who said they wanted advice from neuro .. I never heard anything back and my GP did the Epley manoeuvre on me two as I was so bad with eyes flickering on their own .. anyway I was gobsmacked today as I has an online appointment with neuro which I thought was an OT which I’m waiting for ans it was a neuro DR apologies for being two years late in contacting me for the ENT appointment … 2 years after !! It was beyond belief that he even bothered 😕..sue

Absolutely shocking!

From my current experience, two years seems to be the current wait for any service these days, shouldn't be.

Absolute joke when the ENT wouldn’t do the manoeuvre without neuro seeing me first which took 2 years to do this .. thank god one of my GP was happy to do it as I was in a terrible place with eyes rapidly moving and several falls .. 1 can’t understand why ENT wouldn’t do it and GP would 2 .the two years to get back to me from ENT request …

This could have been done in 5mins as it was done online …

You are right with waiting lists 2 years as I am now paying private to get my other shoulder operation … all from same accident just over 2 years ago .. the NHS is a mess 😢

Mm.. the inaccessibility to vital treatment is unprecedented. I've waited on investigations for severe balance issues (like you Sue - frequent falls) since Aug 2020 but still hitting brick walls and fighting an urge for the private option.

This government is brazenly starving the NHS of funding with the aim of driving enough of us seek private alternatives, thereby normalising a pay-as-you-go health system funded by personal healthcare insurance.. It's a scary and scandalous lottery. Stay strong m'love ! xx

Hi cat .. I don’t want to go private but for me to work again I need bother shoulders better than they are … I’ve done everything I can from physio to steroid injections and I has improved from the beginning of all of this but not enough to do a job that needs physical work ( small amount) . Cat do my previous job as memory and word finding isn’t good enough . Once I get shoulder operation done I can hopefully go back to work … no work for two tears is terrible .. sue x

We do what we need to do Sue ; no judgement from me for folk like us just trying to regain usefulness & independence along with some quality of life.

I empathise big-time with the word finding issue, so I appreciate the freedom here on Headway to express myself, in my own time, without stressing over words which don't come easily !

We share other similarities ; I have a painful shoulder injury still waiting for attention since Dec, and a knee injury dating back 12 months. Oh joy 🙄

Fingers firmly crossed for better days ahead for us both ! Cat x
