Anyone ever done Yorkshire 3 peaks?

I have posted about this a few times in past but still not done it and still want to.

Long story short I have wanted to walk Yorkshire 3 peaks for about 4 years now. I started wanting to since a man who runs the brain injury group I go to said I wouldn’t manage them. He didn’t mean it nasty or anything he just genuinely doesn’t think I’d manage them. To be fair I would need to get training to have a chance. Which I am willing to do. The man has spent the last few years changing his mind about doing them with some from the group. I totally understand his situation as he would be responsible for me and who ever he took and I understand it is a big risk especially as he’s got no way of knowing if I or anyone would manage them.

The last time we spoke he said we can’t as he would need to get some sort of insurance for me to do them and cos my balance isn’t great no one would insure me. I have been working on my balance and it has improved a bit. I know there are other things I need to work on to manage them like walking up and down uneven hills.

I am thinking next year I would like to go and have a walk around the peaks area and do a peak. See how I get on. There are 2 men who go to the group who would like to do them with me 1 has done them before. So I’m thinking I’ll talk to them and plan to have a day with them and do one peak or 2 and can plan to go back to do more.

I’m thinking I would probably manage 2 peaks in the 12 hours but would like to know what other people who have done them think I should focus training on. I would like to do this to raise money for the group I attend as they have done a lot for me and others with brain injury.

Hi keelie, so there seems to be a few barriers to overcome. Not least of all the person that says you can't. No such word as can't, as my old dad would say. There are rules to the three peaks challenge around time. They don't necessarily apply to you. It is your challenge, you set the rules, and look at how you concur the challenge within your abilities.

I would have a chat with the local maintain rescue. They are best placed to understand the challenges, and may well be supportive of you if you take them along with you, in the planning, training, and completion. Good luck 🍀
