Bedtime head discomfort - pillow recommendations?

Hi all, I had a craniotomy in 2018 and still struggle a lot with sleep. I can only sleep on my left hand side now and it takes an age to get comfortable.

Can anyone recommend a pillow that you have used and doesn't fail you. I've been looking at the Internet but I feel even more confused.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Hi Jim Not sure if you like to like firm pillows? I had the same problem with my neck initially and bought a pillow online from a company called Emma. It’s expensive but it has really worked for me. It’s a top quality make and I think you have a chance to return if it doesn’t suit you. I also bought a book that gives some really good advice on sleep by a sleep scientist called Nick Littlehales. Hope you find a solution that helps,

Paul

Hi, I use a tempur neck pillow, it is the best thing Ive ever tried.

I also had a craniotomy in 2018. I use two pillows, a memory foam pillow underneath, for neck support, and on top of that a duck feather and down pillow for soft comfort. It’s like sleeping on a fluffy cloud and I can happily lie my head on either side.

Hi everyone, thanks for your suggestions. I decided to go for the Emma in the end. It should come with a 200 night trial, fingers crossed it helps.

I was using two pillows, I think the bottom one is a duck down pillow and top being a memory foam, I was just finding it was starting to get a little harder to get to sleep.

The weather has been ridiculously hot though, probably not helping either :)

Thanks again.

Thanks for asking this question. This was something I was asking about recently too, because every pillow feels like a rock to me. My wonderful mum just bought me a supposedly soft pillow, but that also feels like a rock. Someone suggested one, I can’t remember what it’s callthough ☺️ I’ll have to find the post. It’s got some kind of grains in, which sounds weird, but a couple of people recommended it, and my head hurts so much I’m willing to try anything. Your pillow sounds good too, I’ve never heard of it, I must look it up.

I think you are referring to a pillow filled with buckwheat.

Yes that’s what I meant. Thank you.

Is this because of pain in the side of the craniotomy?
