I experience similar since my abi. I was referred to a Neuro Otology clinic (balance clinic). I then had to do specific vestibular exercises. Was reviewed every so often and more vestibular exercises added as I progressed. However, for me I will always have balance problems etc but they did improve a lot but will never be 100%. I am visually dependent for my balance and can’t walk in darkness without a walking stick. Also uneven or mirror like flooring gives my a problem. If I am cognitively overwhelmed my balance etc deteriorates. I rarely get that extreme brain spinning sensation anymore from turning and bending. I have ongoing falls though. I can no longer regain my balance if I stumble and am like a felled tree going splat! Get your GP to refer you to a neuro otologist.

I wish I had some wise words for you Bunny but the lack of balance is still the bane of my life. Like Caroline (StrawberryCream) I have frequent falls (the tree going splat is perfect description) and I can't look skywards or turn suddenly without losing balance & giddiness.

All I can tell you is that it's fairly common after brain injury, but you might benefit from referrals to Otology or Physio treatment. I've had minimal relief from various treatments, but everyone's different and you could find something which works for you. Have you asked your GP for help ? x
