Doing well????

Hi all.

Well I am doing ok ......Is

Got over a trapped nerve in my good leg. I'm hobbling about but getting about.

Me and my wife are hoping to start a new venture....details to follow if all ok.

So had to have a medical. No problems I thought...ok I ain't fit but I'm fairly stable medically wise.

I have a good gp and was discussing how I was getting back on my feet. " oh I need a water sample " he says

" no worries" I reply. Hmm why has he gone quiet as he examines the results.

Yep blood test is called . Then a second ...Oh and a third.

Yep I'm feeling great ...And know I have a new friend ....diabetes.

Well I was doing so well. Another twee to my diet oh and another three tablets to take.

Isn't life fun. Could be worse I suppose it's only type two.....yep that's what the the new gp said as he read my last blood results.

Goodbye carbs hello more veg.

Pax

It's a minefield........

My cholesterol showed as high after my annual MOT & blood tests (5.7) so I persevered with no cake/sweeties for a couple of months and brought it down to 5.1.

The nurse made me an appointment there & then with the doc as she was still concerned. The doc said 'It's fine !' .......'stop worrying'.........'your GOOD cholesterol is very good'........go home and have a piece of cake ! 🍰😲

I asked everyone to please not bring me chocolate for Easter. They have, and I've eaten a whole box of Black Magic because I'm an addict & can't eat chocs in moderation !!

Like I say...........It's a minefield.

Keep up with Avocados and Watercress Pax & keep taking the tablets ! 😖 xxx

After my bi my cholesterol went through the roof. Not bi related just life style....Sat on are to be blunt.

Once up and moving along with diet adjustment brought it down. Was put on med first without much success.

A few years ago was picked up borderline type 2 diabetic. Adjusted diet again to ward it off.

Last year wasn't a good one for me as 2 bouts of pneumonia then problems with my sciatic nerve have reduced my mobility.

So now I have full diagnosis of type 2 . Hoping med control it whilst I re adjust diet again and hopefully get a little more mobile.

Having a choccy free easter me....Right like that is going to happen.

Keep on with the black magic.

Like you Paxo I recently found out I was pre-diabetic. Made some tweeks to my diet and got it down out of that range ...... but I don't think I'm doing too well at keeping it there!!

I was managing it until the ability to exercise went out of the windows. Unfortunately not had any symptoms of diabetes so had to have a few test to confirm.

Hopefully I will get it controlled so it's goodbye cars for now.

Exercise seems to be the key........something which has been stifled for most of us here ! I used to be very active (someone half my age complained they couldn't keep up with me walking in the hills when I was in my 50s............called me 'the gazelle'. More like an arthritic tortoise now !

It's partly the BI and partly arthritis & disc problems. Just wish my daughter wasn't on her way here with heaps of chocolate, saying 'Oh you have to have SOME fun'.

Look after yourself Pax..............& hope your lady is fully recovered.

Thanks Cat. Yes Mrs is nearly back to full health. ( awaiting injection in her shoulder). She's been up and down so not updated on here.

Yes exercise is the key. Gp kept sugGestingthorpe different types of exercise...Then adding "maybe not for you".

Want to get back out walking very soon. Don't walk far or fast but I always think if I have to put twice the effort to walk then I only have to walk half as far.

Enjoy your chocs. You could always save them and take a year to eat them.....Then again bugger it and eat the lot now.

I've had a slipped disc (again) but it felt so much better today so, after a visit from my daughter, I put my coat on to take a walk through the woods............ 30 seconds from the front door turned around and headed back ; fre-e-e-zing cold.

So I took your excellent advice & ate those chocs by the fire instead !

Love to you and Mrs Pax............. xxx

Ouch sounds bad. Mine was torn muscle pulling on my nerve. Pity it was my good leg. Recovered in time to have a needle ...yep in my good leg. Ok now but weather not helping.

Think choc and fire sounds good.

These choc related exchanges have really cheered me up Cat & pax, I'm never without a jar of Nutella in the cupboard for digging my forefinger into, I'll just go and get a finger full now.
